How many questions are "easy" in a 700+ level GMAT score?

How many questions are "easy" in a 700+ level GMAT score? [#permalink] New post   05 Nov 2016, 09:14
My question has to do with the level of difficulty for every question when getting a 700+ level score. Does this mean every problem I see (say in quant for example) is 700+? Or are there sub-600 level questions even if you overall get a score that's 700+. Thanks.

Why do you ask?

There are a few variables.

1. There are up to 13 questions in each section that are experimental and don't necessarily fall within appropriate difficulty slot.

2. Some questions are not adaptive in the RC section.

3. I have observed that once you reach a plateau in your score after question 15, you mostly get average difficulty questions.

So not all questions you see on your test will 700-level so to speak, even you score high.

I ask because I want to know if I should study more 700+ level questions.

I'm doing the GMATPrep software and I have a potpourri of questions (hard to easy) and I'm not sure if it's a good gauge on what type of score I'll get. I can answer the medium and easy questions well, but I get a lot of hard ones wrong. So I'm not sure if that means I'll get a sub 700 score.

Also thank you for answering with those points. Didn't know that before and it's helpful.

Hi gillyelephant,

Before I can offer you the specific advice that you're looking for, it would help if you could provide some context for your CAT scores:

1) How long have you studied?
2) How have you scored on each of your CATs (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores)?
3) Did you take the FULL CAT each time (including the Essay and IR sections)?

On your most recent CAT, after reviewing the Quant and Verbal sections, how many questions did you get wrong....
1) Because of a silly/little mistake?
2) Because there was some math/verbal that you just could not remember how to do?
3) Because the question was too hard?
4) Because you were low on time and had to guess?
