How Send GMAT score works

Question

Hi,

I am completely new to the GMAT structure and Planning to give the exam in next couple of months.
I would like to know how does this sending of GMAT score works. Kindly help me on the same.

1. I can send my scores to 5 colleges of my choice.Fine. But what about the application process? Do I have to again spend additional amount to submit the application?
2. If I want to apply for the colleges where I have not sent the GMAT score,what is the procedure? I can directly apply by incurring the application fees or Do i have to send my score to the college first and then again follow the application process ??

I am more or less confused in the process. Seeking a good explanation.

I think gmat charges for sending scores to colleages over and above the 5 colleges you will choose
