Hi Ranand007,

First off, a 650/Q49 is a strong score (it's right around the 80th percentile overall), so it could be enough to get you into your first-choice School. As such, a retest might not be necessary. Depending on the Schools that you plan to apply to, you would likely find it beneficial to speak with an Admissions Expert about your overall profile. There's a Forum full of those Experts here:

https://gmatclub.com/forum/ask-admission ... tants-124/

Before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

Studies:
1) How long have you studied?
2) What study materials have you used so far?
3) How have you scored on EACH of your CATs (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?
4) On what dates did you take each of your CATs?

Goals:
5) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
6) What Schools are you planning to apply to?

Hi ,
Thanks for replying .
I belong to biggest pool of applicant i.e. indian IT male and looking to join Indian school . So i have to get a 700 minimum .

For your specific question :
1) i did started in aug but wasnt really studying . Then i didnt studied at all in Nov and Dev . I started serious study in jan and appeared for exam on 20th march .
2) i did all my 4 gmat prep in 2 weeks before the exam . 3 on 3 days before the test day.
Scores were 710, 680, 700, 710 with 1-2 known question in verbal .
Quant 46-49 . I was doing lot of silly mistake in quant .. so slowed my self a bit to score 49 but i ended up guessing 4-5 question in the end . I have starting 20 correct questions as per ESR.
Verbal - ranged from 34-41 in these 4 test and tanked to 29 on Test day.
4) i have basically used OG for my practise.
I am good at maths as i know most of the concepts and formulas.
I also used Jamboree book for quant and it did helped me in tough questions . Apart from these i didnt used any other material.
5) another point which was quite an imprtant factor is that i just slept for 2-3 hrs the night before exam and my exam was at 10 . I opted for verbal as per my plan but for first 20 mins felt like the words were dancing . I am not going to do this again .

I am planning to go for class of 2019-20 . But need to finish this exam in 1-2 months as there are other important things pending.
Please suggest what and how to study.

Hi Ranand007,

Having little sleep the night before your Official GMAT would likely hurt most Test Takers, so that's a significant factor. There are likely some other factors though, so I have a few questions about how you took your practice CATs:

1) Did you take the ENTIRE CAT each time (including the Essay and IR sections)?
2) Did you take them at home?
3) Did you take them at the same time of day as when you took your Official GMAT?
4) Did you ever do ANYTHING during your CATs that you couldn't do on Test Day (pause the CAT, skip sections, take longer breaks, etc.)?
5) Did you ever take a CAT more than once? Had you seen any of the questions BEFORE (re: in an online forum or in a practice set)?

1) No , i never took entire CAT but with the new format where you can start with verbal or quant , i dont think it is important to take entire CAT.
2) Not really .Apart from sleep and location nothing was different . I took all the CAT from home and on my laptop . But i never took unintended break .
3) One CAT , just before the exam day, i took on same time as my real gmat time . Others i took in afternoon .
4) The scores i mentioned are from the CAT i took just once and they were all fresh from me . I did found 2–3 known question in verbal in all the test but 50% of the time i deliberately marked them incorrect .

Hi Ranand007, it might also help if you can attach your ESR.

Hi Ranand007,

From your prior post, there were a number of 'red flags' in terms of how you took your CATs. Before we discuss those issues though, I have a few additional questions about the lead-up to Test Day and Test Day itself:

1) What did you do in the 3 days before your GMAT?
2) How did you sleep the night before your Test?
3) How long was the ride to the Test Center from your home?
4) Were there any distractions at the facility or during the Test?
5) What did you do during the two 8-minute breaks?
6) Did you finish any sections early?
7) Did you have to rush to finish any sections (and guess on questions just to finish on time)?
