Yes, hopefully this is clearly tongue-in-cheek. Not to be recommended for those who actually want to do consulting.

LOL.

You can always:

Show no interest
Turn down all advances
Have no clue what consultants actually do
Decide on a whim its no work so heck drop a resume to those places 150 of your classmates talk about all the time
Get close listed on every single top company

I know someone who did this...doesn't even know what a case interview is going to be like. I think they are going to just reject the invites though since its "too much work" and they don't actually want to do that job.

LOL! I'm very interested to see how turns out!

I think you should use the line from Goodwill Hunting "Do you know how easy this is for me???"

1. Don't recruit for consulting
2. Don't go to any consulting events
3. When they contact you to ask you to come to breakfast, decline
4. When they contact you to ask you to come to another event, tell them you aren't interested in consulting
5. Get nominated by faculty for a contest held by the firm - decide to compete just to see how it goes
6. Go to award dinner, drink lots of wine and have a good time
7. Somehow place very high in the contest
8. Get invited to interview

...recruiting is bizarre sometimes

Stay tuned for the next installment "How to learn to absolutely crush/absolutely fail at case interviewing in 10 days."

LOL!! Well hopefully the interview resulted in something you wanted to do... were you even interested in consulting to begin with?

lol it is fun to read that... but it really applied to one of the 2nd years here...

1. No interest in consulting - interested in MA and IBank. Never been to any consulting events or know anything about the companies.
2. Got email from BCG and Mck for interview - had to entertain them.
3. practice a few cases a week before interview
4. went for interview... got admit to both
5. checked what each company does/rankings, picked the one with highest growth(Mck).
6. did internship and get offer for job
7. easy as pie?

I did talk to the guy since i am interested in consulting. He is worthless for general questions since all he did was prep a few cases and got accepted but after working through a mock case of him it really showed how good he was....
