I'm happy to give my 2 cents.

Second, I have some comments that may help you. I'm older than you and I succeeded to join an European school with just 530 and got scholarship too. It was RSM but I dropped my MBA due to sever family issues that demanded my present in my home country.
Third, You can apply to European schools with your age. Btw, I saw there students with 41-42 years old. But you need to focus on your profile. The adcom wants clear vision of your past and future life. They consider you mature in this age. So unclear essay would jeopardize your application. I saw this a lot with people having 770.
Also, you must study the country where you want to join its school. You must study carefully if it fulfills your short and long term goals. You may contact career office and ask current student and use LinkedIn to contact with Alumni. I have examples who return to their countries.
