Hi all!
I got accepted into the DEFERRAL MBA program (right out of college) 2 years ago to Booth & Wharton.. I selected Wharton and have been paying the deposit annually to secure my spot. I still have a few more years to defer (up to 5 years) until I decide to enroll in the MBA experience, but now completely REGRET choosing Wharton and would like to go to Booth. One of the reasons, transparently, is my wife is now moving to Chicago due to an important job/career change herself, and I would really like to follow her and not do a 2 year long distance marriage!
I wish I had paid the deposits to Booth to secure my "DEFERRAL MBA" but, unfortunately, did not have that foresight in life. I completely recognize this counts as a decline of the offer, but do you think it's worthwhile to reach out to Admissions? I would ask to be considered to be reinstated into the Deferral Program and for them to accept my (very delayed) annual deposits.
- Also, what reasoning should I give? I want to be sincere about how my personal life has now unexpectadly taking me to Chicago but might be a very poor justification? Should I also express that, at the time, Wharton seemed like better fit but now Booth is where my heart is at?
- Does reaching out with this unique ask give a bad impression if I were to apply again during regular application (I wouldn't want to go through the entire process again with new rec letters GMAT etc!!)
- Should I do email or just call their office?
Would appreciate ANY advice / guidance / feedback -- I'm conflicted if and how to reach out. Thank you so much.
