mon0818, I'm in the same situation as you, they required me to increase my verbal score. Already started to study! Good luck to you...

Are you going to retake it?

Yep!

that's great, mon0818. i think the fact that they specifically asked you to resit the GMAT signifies that they really liked the rest of your profile or else they wouldn't have bothered asking you to resit. best of luck with getting your score up. we've all been there at one point or another :)

I am from the UK and just completed my first interview, and have my second next week.

My interviewer was quite relaxed, and very friendly. However I don't believe I made it clear what I wanted to achieve from the MBA and INSEAD over the short, medium and long term. He asked me to go in to quite a lot of detail on this matter, and it got me thinking quite a lot about why I wanted to do an MBA. My lack of clarity may have spoiled my chances. What I would suggest to everyone is be prepared, show you are focussed and have a clear idea of exactly why this is such an important part of your career journey.

He gave me a lot of good advice, for example, that I should try and complete my language requirements before the programme starts and that I should also try and secure an intership beforehand.

My next interview is on Tuesday, and this now becomes extremely important, as I need to show that I am focussed, however I fear the damage may have been done already!

heard from Marie Picard, they'd like me to resit the GMAT!!

Are you still in running for R2 (and you should manage to retake the gmat before the end decision) or are they advising to retake the gmat and apply for R3?

As far as I understand in their sup doc I can apply for R3 (just submit new score) or Sept 2011 (€200, new GMAT score, essay no.7 and language test result if applicable should it be expired by resubmission date) intake without writing everything again if i reapply within 6 months.

Don't think i can crash their R2 anymore...

Hi,
I am new here. I was also asked to resit GMAT to improve my quant score.
Application deadline of round 3 is july 28 - to retake the GMAT before is not possible for me - do you think it is ok to submit the new gmat after their deadline or does this automatically mean earliest start will be Sep 2011?
Cheers and congrats to all with an interview invite.

Hi,

Good luck with the next one.

thanks for posting. was your first interviewer the older alum or the younger alum? did you send him your essays and everything prior to the interview, or did he only have the profile pages of your application?

It was a younger interviewer. I sent him my whole application and my CV. I think my interview shows the importance of having a really clear career strategy in your mind.

Apparently it varies a lot from candidate to candidate. But I would not worry, this can takes some time. You can always send an email to the mba admission team to ask...

Has anyone had an interview yet?

I have my first one scheduled tomorrow early in the morning.

Hope it went well FrankBE. Was it quite formal or more of a 'friendly chat while getting to know more about you'?

It was very unformal (he was in jeans and sneakers). The questions were the usual suspects: help me through your resume, why insead,....

When in doubt wear a suit. My first interview was a casual meeting at a local starbucks. My interviewer was in jeans and a shirt. I wore a suit. My next interview is at night -and I'm still going to wear a suit. I think it presents an air of professionalism. Also, having conducted similar interviews (as an interviewer -both for my firm and my prior graduate school) -I can confidently say that as long as your professionally dressed, it doesnt matter what you wear, but you can never go wrong with a suit.
