10% error is not enough I guess... Else R3 Indians have between -2 and -14 places left and INSEAD will go above the 10% per nationality this time.

I think last year INSEAD admitted 57 indians. They have already admitted at least 59 this year. So unless at least 6-7 people do not join INSEAD, i dont think there is any chance for indian R3 or waitlisted candidates

11D Batch has 53 Indians
12J Batch has 58 Indians

So, for past 2 batches INSEAD has breached the 10% nationality cap.

Assumption: I believe that INSEAD offers about 70 seats per batch to Indians and the yield rate is somewhere between 70-80%.

I believe that for R3 about 10 seats (for Indians) would be there.

Congratulations to all admits!! Hi all,

Just a question that is going through my Mind and I thought of taking a opinion - I have a option to apply to Sep 2012 and I can wait for Jan 2013 session also. Considering that the Jan option has an Internship - I want to understand the reasoning / benefits for applying in Sep round - Is Internship not that important tool for a good placement - or people who are applying for sep2012 are confident on networking for jobs / or want to remain in the same industry - all views on this are welcome --- good / bad / ugly..

Not everyone gets an internship, some by design, some because its a 1 year program so it is tough to land one and some because they are sponsored by their companies so don't have to worry about a job later. But the possibility of an internship is one of the attractive features of the Jan intake. Also, since Jan is out of cycle for most other MBA school (especially US ones), the people who apply are fairly committed to joining INSEAD. Which means their profiles match up to INSEAD requirements better. So for all these reasons Jan is supposed to be a tougher one to crack.

On the flip side, since it is out of cycle from the other B-school admissions, it would make sense that there are fewer applicants for the Jan intake.

So both have merits. I personally think Jan is the tougher one, but the possibility of an internship made me apply in Jan.

I have a query and will be glad if someone could answer it. I am originally from India. I applied in second deadline and have been waitlisted by INSEAD. Now, INSEAD has already admitted 58 indians so far so it is highly unlikely that I will be selected. I plan to reapply to INSEAD. I contacted INSEAD and my co ordinator told me that I cant apply again as long as I am on waitlist. Now, either I can withdraw my application from waitlist and apply for september 2012 or wait for the waitlist decision and then apply for jan 2013 class. Also, applying for jan 2013 class will mean that I will have to reappear for GMAT as I appeared for my gmat way back in 2006 and my score will expire in october 2011. Can someone suggest what should I do?

That's what I call a sticky situation!

If I was you, I would remain in the waitlist. Had I time, I would start preparing for a very high GMAT score. If the waitlist did not work out, I would apply for R2 Sept. In the meantime, I would sit the GMAT again so I could at least send it to the adcom by the time I had my interviews. Having a higher GMAT than now, would give you better chances in Sept R2 as not to end up in the waitlist again. If you ended up in the waitlist for Sept, then you quit the waitlist and go for R1 Jan. So, worst case, you do what you are considering now, but best case you get admitted this January off the waitlist. Of course, other than working on the GMAT try to improve other areas of your profile, like leadership, international aspect, volunteering etc anything you feel there is space for improvement. Stay positive and be determined and you will succeed. Best of luck!

In addition to GMAT (which this forum is really, really into :)), I would also recommend that you look at the rest of your application to honestly assess your weakest point. Maybe your coordinator or interviewers can help too. Looking at the spreadsheets, I'm sorry to say but there is no indication that a high GMAT will guarantee an acceptance. I see Indians getting admitted with 650s and Americans with 790 getting rejected. I personally got admitted with a 42 for GMAT quant (61%), and during my interview neither interviewer even bothered to mention my GMAT scores (my job requires strong quant skills, as did my graduate/undergraduate studies, my guess is INSEAD took that into consideration). I think you need to have an honest dialogue with yourself so that you do not resubmit the same application, albeit with different GMAT scores, back in for reconsideration.

Thanks a lot for your reply. My current GMAT score is quite high (770) and hence there is no scope for GMAT improvement. Secondly, I am an Indian male applicant and I want to apply in the first deadline to maximize my chances. So, if I do not apply in the first deadline of Sep 2012, then I will apply for Jan 2013. Also, last year I was admitted to Indian School of Business and I postponed my admission by 1 year. So if I apply to Insead for jan 2013 I will have to forego ISB admission. However I really want to make one more attempt at INSEAD. I want to wait for Jan 2012 but I feel with 58 indians already admitted it is highly unlikely that I will be selected.

There are 3 (2 female and 1 male)

I'm not going to post all the countries in Africa or Latin America... it's way too much. Tell me which one you are from and I'll check
