folks,
quick question. how many % of interviewees get accepted? is it more of a data point along with your application or "if you don't screw up" you are in?
also, not many dings reported yet - isn't that a bit strange? i assume either people have been invited to interviewed or dinged?
thoughts?
I asked a similar question a while ago but didn't get many responses. From speaking to alumni and reading other threads, I get the impression that around 50% of interviewees are accepted. However, that's across a wide distribution and I'm not sure it's worthwhile saying 'I therefore have a 50/50 chance'. It will vary significantly from candidate to candidate based on the strength of their applications.
I think that there's definitely a selection bias regarding the population on this thread for the following reasons:
- I would guess that people who join this thread, in the first place, are more involved in their application processes and spend more time researching both themselves and their chosen schools - perhaps this makes them slightly stronger candidates - or perhaps they've done all of the research
because they're stronger candidates...? (that's the initial population)
- Secondly, look at the number of people who have only joined the thread subsequent to receiving an invite (I think there are quite a few).
- Finally, only a small proportion of people are likely to report their dings on the thread (most probably because they've moved on to other schools/ threads)
I reckon there are a few other factors too, but those above are likely to result in a selection of candidates on this thread that aren't representative of the original applicant pool. Just my two cents worth of speculation, but there might be a bit of truth to it... especially when you look at the acceptance rates on prior INSEAD threads (really high - 70-80%)
Again, interested to hear anyone else's thoughts...
