Hello~~ I am an reapplicant from last year. I am applying in R1. After my interview, I am waiting for the result now.

Why there are only 15 ppl applying in R1 this year? The number of applicants is much more than this last year.

Btw, I actually got my offer from INSEAD after being in waitlist for almost 3 months. Due to my company policy (we need 3 months resignation notice), I cannot make my way to INSEAD last year. I hope I can get in this time. Anyone here share the similar experience with me? =p

Wow that's really a pitty.... I would have negotiated with my company. I wouldn't have let go INSEAD like this man... That sucks for you.

Since you went through the application process. How would you weight the chances of getting admitted after being called for interview ?
Since you seem to be in the board of last year too, what's the % of people on the board getting in ? any idea ?
I know these questions don't make much sense but this wait is just killing me :p

It was a hard decision. I was also the project leader of a project I just started. So it was not so nice to just give it up because of some personal reason. Anyway, I really really hope it should not be the reason I may regret for my life.

For those questions, i don't have the direct answers. But I think you can check the previous discussions, some of them have the statistics at the first page. However, I did notice that the number of applicants from GMAT club is rather small this year. It was around 6,70, i think.

wow that sounds cruel Liwei... like I'd just leave and not bother with the 3 months; i mean no one can force you to work... anyway, you seem to have repeated the trick with your essays this year... but I wouldn't simply go by the no of ppl on this forum as a representative sample for guesstimating the no of ppl applyin to insead...

I saw about around 60~70 applicants in previous years. The number is only 15 so far this year..

The waiting time is really suffering. I know it could not be a reliable number. but it is at least something we are "happy" to see. ^___^

Hi all

No post for some time, so thought I will update with latest, whilst there is some lull in the process. Have finished with one interview, and due to delays, have the next one lined up for late next week. Interview 1 went ok - it was a pleasant enough conversation (not very structured although why Insead, why MBA type questions were asked). No feedback and some general differences of opinion with the interviewer on some issues, so I dont know if this will have an effect on review. Keeping fingers crossed though!

but had two questions I would love to hear your thoughts on:
1) Is a late interview a bad thing - ie does that mean there are less spaces by the time they get to decide on your application? Does it matter in R1 at all?
2) What are some of the reasons people get rejected after the interview stages do you think? As in do you have to be super-bad/ silly/ crazy - eg have no social skills, or say things like you want to really go to another school instead, and Insead is your back up?! Or are the reasons much more subjective/ subtle?

Look forward to hearing thoughts!

Thanks Shashank. This will be really useful. I have added in two columns that I think will be nice to have.
Apologies, but this may involve additional work for some of you ;)

I will try providing you my perspective from going through R1 admissions process for the September class at Insead

1) The interview date did not have an impact on the overall result. We had candidates who got their interviews a month before everyone else, but were rejected. Similarly there were gmatclub members who got called for an interview 2-3 days before the admission date and were admitted.

2) I dont think anyone would be able to give you a definitive answer for this one. There are just so many factors involved. Since Insead does not use Adcoms for interviews (except in France and Singapore) , the interviews end up being very different from candidate to candidate. The interviewers have not been trained to ask specific questions or even to look for specific personality traits. That makes the interview process very subjective and heavily biased towards if you clicked with the interviewer or not. After one of my interviews, theinterviewers took out the evaluation needed to be send out to INSEAD (it was very similar to the recommendation evaluation letter) and proceeded to fill it infront of me, saying I will be highly recommended. So it really matters on so many factors from your personal performance, from your interviewers perspective of you, and how you compare with other people he/she has interviewed for the school till date.

There was a lot of discussion around trying to figure out what the % of admission is post interview. I think the forum members landed on something close to 50-60% of interviewed candidates get admitted. That number is not precise and might change year to year, as well as September to January classes. But the general consensus was that the interview gives you a really good chance of getting in.

I had to travel for my interviews cause they couldn't find anyone in or around my city. Have they asked you for that kind of flexibility?

Well, they should have tens if not hundreds of alumni in Toronto. It's really strange and I am starting to have doubts if I'll given a fair assessment compared to those who got their interviews done weeks ago.
