Question to the round 1 candidates: did you take a copy of your resume/cv to the interview??

Hi everyone, I was admitted in round 1. Definitely email your resume/cv to the interviewer beforehand (preferably while setting up the appointment) and take copies with you. Good luck!

Hi dlight, thank you for your advice. Do I need to import/export my application to a specific interview form, or just making a PDF from the profile section is sufficient? And for the CV, did you send a detailed version or just a one-pager ?

Thanks

I actually sent my entire application pdf (one of the interviewers even requested my essays). Regarding the CV, I sent a one-pager..

Yeap I took a copy of my CV but both interviewers had already printed out the CV copy that I had sent to them.

I disagree with the idea of sending the CV or any other information than what is required. Two reasons. First, you want to retain as much of an informational advantage as possible for a brief meeting. By handing the whole works out (much beyond what INSEAD requires you to) you give more raw material for the interviewer to work with (which is why they are asking you in the first place). The diligent-types may come prepared with more specific questions. I'd rather have a conversation with the person in which I guide him through the course of my progress in words during the interviewer rather than let him/her have the upper hand. Second, you will have more to say during the interview if you don't hand your CV and essays out. If they already have them then you will feel compelled to come up with alternative examples to keep the interview 'original'. These may not be your best answers; else you would have put them in the essays in the first place.

Anyway, thats my take on this and I did not provide the interviewers anything additional.

I agree with MBAji. This is what I heard from certain other students who are currently at different top business schools.

I sorta agree with MBAji. I brought my resume to the interview and shared it with my interviewers by saying I know INSEAD adcom only asked me to send you 6 pages from my profile but I thought I should also share my resume with you to give you more holistic and please let me know if you have any questions regarding my resume.

If you're going to share your essays, know the content like your life depends on it. Further, be prepared to handle questions if they ask you to tell them about any more failures that you didn't mention in the application, or 3 more weakness, or if you wrote about cultural shock, they can ask you about your country... One interviewer will throw curve balls or doosras (if you're cricket fan) at you. just stay calm and think through your answer before you start speaking. Have a bottle/glass of water next to you and if you need to buy some time, drink some water while you arrange your thoughts before answering.

Formal. Better safe than sorry. Unless he specifically asks you to dress down, wear a suit. Even if he is dressed down, doesn't matter if you are over dressed. It is worse to be underdressed than your interviewer!

Do you recommend wearing a tie as well?

No. I wouldn't recommend it.

:) Kidding! That was for TX610's benefit. Of course wear a tie. Suit generally means with tie and button down formal shirt. Cuff links are optional. :)

Dude, are these questions for real????? seriously...seeerrrrrriously? Even if the interviewer was meeting you on the beach and he/she was in a speedo, sipping on some fruity drink... you're still suppose to be in a well ironed either blue or light gray suit... plain tie... white/light blue plain shirt and yes, you have to wear shoes not beach sandals...

Hi sachintendua,

Same here; I received the interview invite on thrus, 21st July, but have not received yet the names of my interviewers. I am based in The Netherlands.

Same here, based in New York City. I've not heard from INSEAD since the email about pre-selection. I did get an email today recommending that I apply for scholarships which are due on 8/18, even though the final status of R2 will not be finalized by then. More essays, and more essays, and more essays ... :) This process is quite the marathon.

yeah. got that email too.. I think they send it to everyone... do we have to apply for some of the merit based ones that require no essays or do they require no action on our part? the prospect of writing more essays does seem quite daunting (provided of course one even gets in)...

Every one of the scholarship details I have looked at (ones I'm eligible for) seem to require some sort of essay, and the eligibility criteria seems to be on merit and need, rather than just one or the other. I'd guess that the form that they ask you to fill should be, in addition to probably your transcripts from your application, what they use to assess merit.

They say to cap the number of applications to 5 (recommended). I wonder what their take is if one was to apply to say, 6 or 7.

I was in that boat too, receiving my confirmation on the 21st. Just got the details today, hang in there, they will come.
