Hi,

Does anyone know if how quickly you get your interviews over with matters? Does the admissions committee review the apps with interview reports on a first come first served basis? Or are all the R2 interview applicants evaluated at one shot?

Thanks!

i was kind of wondering about this as well. i have my second interview on tuesday. when should i typically expect to hear back? september seems too far away!

Gee, I see that several people are already facing their second interview, and I have not yet heard from admissions about the names of my interviewers.... Anybody out there who is in the same situation?

Im sure youre not the only one. I think it somehow goes by geographic location, and I happen to be in a location where I'm one of the first people to be contacted. I've been receiving all emails quite early on, I'd say either the first or second one of this forum.

The date by which one preferably needs to get the interviews done is approx 1 month from the date one received the pre-selection email in July for R2.

At least that's how it is for me; I think it should be one month apart for others as well.

This means the date for getting interviews done may be different for different people. Also, sometimes interviewers don't respond to interview requests coz they haven't checked email, are traveling etc. So you can get delayed if they have to get other interviewers.

Given all this - circumstances beyond the applicants' control - I cant believe INSEAD has a system in which you gain an advantage by getting your interviews done faster and racing to the finish line faster. So long as you get them done by the suggested date you should be fine IMO...

I am currently based in Europe and have not heard from Insead. I received my pre-selection email on July 21.

Hey folks,

A new one to the thread! similarily, running after those 10 months in Fonty...

My 2 cents story:

I've been preselected very early, I guess the same day as the first forumer to be selected here (MBAji if I remember well), had 2 interviews and not one as one thought in the forum (i.e. early pre-selection means excelent app...).

And, it ran very quickly for me, I did my two interviews the last week. The first one was good, very traditional, the famous questions... and my interviewer told me at the end that he has no reason to not recommend me, so it was OK.
The 2nd interview was very far from being a traditional Insead interview, my interviewer was really testing me, he rained me with a kind of intellectual questions... he tested all the non-native languages I mentioned in my 6 pages profiles, at a time he began to switch language at each question (a question in English, and the next in my 2nd non native language), after 10-15 questions this way I wasn't able to switch language smoothly, I was answering on a question mixing both languages :) (a mess).
He asked me at times correlated questions but distanced within the interview, to test whether I am bluffing I guess..
On some questions, he asked to reply in less than a second, very promptly without thinking, like:
- What 3 qualities of INSEAD are the most significant to you
- What 3 main problems you see in your country
- What 3 radical actions you take if you were appointed in a governing position in your country! (This one wasn't directly after the above one, they were distanced.... fortunately I was able to correlate them... Additionally answering quickly under pressure on such a question let him discover the candidates political views... hope they were not different than his ones :) )
and more and more challenging questions...
Folks, he pushed me to the limits of my capacities, I was really exhausted at the end, but I had fun a bit. His method obliged me to be myself and to not answer in diplomatic way. I discovered that it is an efficient method...
He didn't give me any hint about what his rec will be, but overall it will not be bad I guess...

Now i want to ask a question: how much a pre-selection + 2 good interview recs would mean an admission? or asking it in another way: with a pre-selection + 2 good interview recs what could make you have a ding?

Wish we'll get it all of us guys

Hi FontyJ12, I don't think we'll ever know how the balckbox of MBA admissions really functions unless we're on the inside... I googled around and found some discussion on how even 1 good interview is usually enough to get through; while some say the chances of getting in are 50% even with 2 good interviews... the good news is that a number of those on Gmatclub who interviewed got through in R1 (though some were waitlisted on this forum)... so lets jus hope for the best... I finished my first interview but my second proposed interviewer went AWOL on me... so I'll be doing my second this week... fingers crossed...

Surbhi291086, good luck with your interviews! I think it's a good idea to have them on the same day, you'll be done quickly with this long process this way!

Hell Everyone!

I am contemplating whether or not I should apply to INSEAD. The major drawback I see in my profile is that I do not have any international work experience. I have lived and studied abroad (across three continents;for about 6 yrs. in total). How big an impediment is lack of international work experience? I have approx. 4 yrs of work in and am currently working as an associate in a top management consulting firm (MBB). I have a Masters in Economics from LSE.

Thank You very much!

Cheers!

Hi LSEguy,
I don't think it's about international work experience. It's more about the sensitivity/tolerance for and interest in different cultures. IMHO, educational experience could be even more useful than work experience, as the interaction would have been at a deeper and more personal level. I wouldn't think of it as a drawback, but rather an edge.

INSEAD is looking for International Experience, not International Work Experience. 6 years across 3 continents is hell of a lot of good experience you have. Like indianquant said, don't let that factor hold you back. I think you are golden in terms of ticking that box.

Thank you very much for your reply. Its certainly reassuring to know that 'any' sort of international experience is looked at favorably by INSEAD.

I better pick up the INSEAD application and start drafting the essays now!

Thanks again!
