Thanks Linda. That gives me hope that we still have some chance. 2 more months to go... There might be some movement in November 2nd week.

Hi all,

I initally applied for the 16D class and was put on the waiting list.
I have recently been called by my AO, she told me that my application was not taken in count for 16D, she told me there are no places left, all installments have been received and apparently no student have yet dismissed in last minute. However, she told me the committee has reviewed my application (I did not send any update) and they have accepted me for the 17J class in Singapore. Note that I had ticked "both campuses" when asked for the starting campus.

So, even with a 650 GMAT and a waiting list, there is still hope!

Good luck to everyone,

Cheers,

P.

Congratulations Paul! That's awesome news. When did you receive the call?

Can I ask what your quant and verbal percentile is? I am contemplating sitting the GMAT again to improve my quant score, but I really don't want to.

Also, what is your background / professional experience?

Hey Lindaarcher,
imho, I wouldn't write the gmat just for the sake of improving my quant section, as long as you have a reasonable score, unless you have plans to break 750 barrier or so then might be worth it as it shows you have dedication. Standardized testing is all about time management and prep and not rocket science at least the way I see it. So if you're planning on scoring 10/20/30 points higher then probably focus your attention on something else - maybe push for a promotion, move jobs, or even start your own charity/company etc... I say all this not to discourage you but I look at it from a value added perspective, a higher score is not gonna guarantee admission even at other universities but starting a charity/company or such will be helping yourself in the short term and helping others long term.

g'luck.

My quant section was good 85% (49 I think not sure) percentile while my verbal was quite weak 59% (37 I think again not sure). In total I reached the 79% percentile.

Good Luck

Hey Jason

I was of the same opinion but after speaking to a consultant (ex director of admissions at INSEAD), she said my only glaring weakness is my quant score. At 58%, it's quite low and definitely below their expected 70-75%. I looked at improving my extra curricular experience, but she said a 10% increase in GMAT will far outweigh the impact of EC, given I have significant leadership experience already.

Seeing that Paul's quant score was 85% sort of confirms the importance of the quant score.....what do you guys think?

Hey Linda,
Considering you have the EC experience then go for it, there's no harm. Just make sure that you have the stamina as you did mention in an earlier post that "[you] really don't want to". I have met quite few applicants who wrote it multiple times, some scored higher while others not really. The only downside might be while applying to other schools then your gmat report will list all attempts if not mistaken.
As well, you can always highlight any undergrad technical courses you've taken, if any, as assurance that you have the desired quant skills.

Like PaulFrederick I've been accepted to the September 2016 intake as well.

Not sure if I should take it.. As it has no internship. I've also got a admit from iese as well but at least they have internships...?(I intend to change careers)

You have a point, interships are very interesting for both getting some experience in your desired future professional environment AND being quite well paid for it. A good way to compensate the high big investments made for the MBA.

IESE is a very good MBA of course but its a 2 year cursus which, for the majority of INSEAD students, is too long, as they want a dense and short cursus.

That's true but how valuable is the internship in insead anyways if we were accepted in the Jan intake. It's only 6 weeks yeah? Isn't that shorter than a normal 8-10week internship?

Also if anyone can vouch on whether insead internships have a high full time conversion?
