I applied in R4. Currently on Waitlist, so its very uncertain... Anyone any idea how does it work or we just have to wait and watch? Do they reject also or they never say anything till the end if not accepted?

My Background: 8 years of International Experience ( China, US, UK). I am originally from India but British Citizen now. GPA 3.86 in Masters in Materials Science.

My GMAT is 660. I do not know if I can do anything to improve my chances?

Hey govind440,
Unfor, there is no clear process as to how it works and no committee would divulge such info. I believe for someone on the WL to get an offer, depends on many factors at this stage and that includes, diversity and quality of applications in R4 etc... Take for instance diversity: a candidate from country X where 'X making up 25% of the incoming Jan16' vs. 'X making up 2% of the incoming Jan16' -- the former has a lower chance getting off the waitlist for the sake of diversity keeping all else equal. It's more complicated than that for sure.

It's a wait and watch for the time being the way I see it. As for the rejection etc... not quite sure on that, I don't know if they would keep WL profiles active for the Sep intake but I doubt. Considering that R4 notifications are due by Oct 9th and they've already reached out to few so I'd give it another week or so, I think they've already crafted their class and now awaiting acceptances. The only chance at that stage would be if they've encountered declines on their part then this might open to some getting off the WL.
best to everyone.

Thank you Jason.

Much appreciated and you are absolutely correct I guess. I don't think this is valid for next term. There are not many universities that offer for Jan Intake so getting of the wait list rate will be very low. However things might change I guess... waiting game for another 3 months....

Hi all, I got wait listed last night- does anyone know if the order of notification reflects the ranking on the wait list? I received the email at 2pm on 9 Oct (France time) :-/

Hey Lindaarcher - you can look at it as ranking but as well it might be driven by a spreadsheet sorted by last names or a combination of things etc. g'luck

Thanks Jasonmak. Has everyone responded to the waitlist offer email yet? Is this just a "yes I accept the waitlist option" or do you pitch your profile/interest again in the reply?

no worries Lindaarcher. If you're still interested then tick the yes statement and send it over. I wouldn't reiterate interest in the program as it is given by your WL acceptance. As for pitching, I don't think that would add weight to their decision unless if you had a major change in your profile since the time of application then probably you can note it. Again that's just my way, I would keep it simple and to the point.

Also waitlisted and informed by mail by the AO. Called her to ask a few questions, she told me the deadline for acceptance is the 6th of November...some people might cancel their admissions, after that deadline (according to me) our applications will lose in credibility...

Waitlist means that can accept you until the very first day of class ON BOTH CAMPUSES given cancellations...They don't call to tell you your rejected, that what AN told me...

Feeling between :? and  ....nevermind

Good luck for y'all!

Thanks PaulFrederick for the info. G'luck to you as well. You could expect quite few declines even from WLers should they get off the list especially as we get closer to Dec, I doubt int'l students can still make it by Jan considering visa requirements, ...

A friend who graduated in 15J said there were 531 people in 15D and around 540 in her promotion. Sounds like it changes year on year but certainly there could be more than 526. I think any movement will likely happen next week when first deposits are due, and that our chances will diminish after that...although I heard there have been people admitted 2 weeks before class started!

Does anyone know if decisions are being released from other schools in the next couple of weeks? I think we would be at a disadvantage because not many schools (except CBS) start in Jan...=/
