Hi,

I have a score of 690 with Q-49 and V-36 but my IR is only 2. Im looking to apply for European , UK MBA colleges and ISB? Would there be screening process for IR?

Hi AlN,

With a 690/Q49, you have an excellent score (it's right around the 90th percentile overall), so you should apply to any Business Schools that interest you. Your IR score will be the least of their worries given you scored a 690. I would not worry about this and instead just focus on putting together a great application. Have you talked to ANYONE who's been rejected from Business School because of his/her IR score?. But again a final answer would really depend on the rest of your profile.

It's still unclear how schools are viewing the IR and essay component of the GMAT. While it shouldn't be a huge issue, it does raise a small red flag. If the rest of your application is solid, it shouldnt affect the outcome, but if there are already questions about your candidacy, it could add fuel to the fire. If that makes sense?

Hello AlN,

There is not complete clarity on the weight each school places on the IR score; however, it could be a slight problem.

Whether or not your score of 690 is good enough depends on multiple factors:
-Your overall profile and achievements; if these are stellar, a number of negatives could be ignored.
-What league of schools are you actually targetting? To say European and UK MBA programs is very wide ended.

In the case of ISB, you are about 20 points under the average; hence, a lot will depend on how you present your overall candidature.

Hi AIN

Depending on the schools you are applying to, you would need to consider this on a case by case basis.

As far as ISB goes, it does not consider the IR score as a filter. You can check out the FAQs on the ISB website here to confirm this: https://www.isb.edu/faqs/pgp
