Is 5^k greater than k?
(1) k is a negative number.
(2) 5^k < 1
(1) k is a negative number.
(2) 5^k < 1
Statement 1: 5 is a positive number and any positive number raised to any power will yield a positive number. Hence 5^k>0 and as pe the statement k<0
so 5^k>k. sufficient
Statement 2: 5^k <1. this implies 5^k<5^0
or k<0 but 5^k cannot be negative. so 5^k>k. Sufficient

\(5^k > k?\)
\((1) k\) is a negative number.
Take \(x = - \frac{1}{2}\)
\((5)^- \frac{1}{2} > - \frac{1}{2}\)
\((\frac{1}{5})^2 > - \frac{1}{2}\)
\(\frac{1}{25} > - \frac{1}{2}\) == TRUE
This will be true for all Negative values of K. Hence, =====> Eq. (1) is SUFFICIENT
\((2) 5^k < 1\)
This means that \(K\) cannot be greater than equal to \(0\) [/m] As \(5^0 = 1\)
This means \(K < 0\), or \(K\) is NEGATIVE.
Hence, as per the explanation in equation (1), we can see the all negative values of x can satisfy the equation. Hence, =====> Eq. (2) is SUFFICIENT
