Re: ISB and IIM Evaluation [#permalink]
Hello Devashishmishra

While the 'stats' of your profile look decent, admissions are not a check-list. Consider the following-
1) With ~12 yrs ex, you will be an outlier at ISB. Not a deal breaker, but make sure you showcase more maturity through career progress, achievements at work and why the need of an MBA now. At IIMs your years of work ex may not be a concern as such.
2) No mention of extracurricular activities- these help you stand out from other applicants and help you show how you will be a great addition to the B School. You may want to read here to know all the qualitative factors that need to be addressed in your written application.
3) What are your career goals my friend? This is the most vital piece of the admission puzzle. You will need to build a narrative that is realistic, organic and fits the profile of the b school. Add to your research by reading here.
A profile is not just a few numbers around GMAT, CGPA and years of work ex. The above is more important in the assessment of your profile as well as application.

Hello Devashishmishra,

Thanks for your query.

Although 11.5 years of work experience is on the higher side of the spectrum, it will not be a red-flag per se, particularly if you are able to address how you have garnered substantial professional maturity along the way. At the same time, the onshore experience in London, as well as the experience of having set up a venture, will both be a value-add. While your GMAT meets the average at ISB, a retake may quite be worth it to add greater value to your profile.

Having said the above, without detailed information on your achievements, progress, extra-curricular activities and interests, it is difficult to evaluate your profile in greater detail. We do recommend that you watch the following video to garner a nuanced perspective on writing the ISB essays as this will help you present your strengths and diversity in an appropriate manner.

Please reach out in case of any queries.

All the best! :-)
