Hi Ruchi,

Thank you very much. Could you also tell me which all colleges can I target apart from ISB keeping this profile in mind?

Appreciate your response.

From your description, the profile looks average. Your chances will lie in the detailed description of your work and the impact you have created. Make sure to convey this through your essays, but first work in getting a good GMAT score.

Hi nikhilbhat,

Your profile seems amazing. Yes, your stats are not very great including your GMAT and I don't think you have the time to retake it considering you are thinking of applying in R1, so better work best on your story and I do feel your work-ex, ECs compensate for this. Talking about your work-ex, it's pretty amazing with a lot of impact of yours on the organization, many innovations on your side, big responsibilities with excelling discharge of these, and some great leadership experiences. Also, I find your bike riding very different and interesting and you should highlight this in your applications. However, I would advise you to bring relevant reasons for your goals of pivoting from automobiles (in which you have such great experience) to e-com in your application. Overall, if you are able to bring an amazing story, I feel you have a great shot at ISB. We are happy to discuss further your chances and would love to hear your story. Feel free to book a free session with us as per your convenience.

Cheers!

Hi,

With work experience in the largest public sector bank of India, you definitely stand out from other applicants at ISB /SP Jain. A profile like yours adds to the diversity of the MBA cohort and hence preferred by the adcom. You must have cleared national level competitive exams to get into SBI, while already having a job in a reputed firm such as L&T. This brings out the ambitious person in you who is not settled for anything less than what he deserves. Your certifications and internship in the finance domain show your interest and commitment as a BFSI professional and these will add bonus points to your profile. However, your extracurriculars are not that significant and you may want to substantiate them with any CSR activity/social work (e.g. Implementation of Government sponsored schemes in the agricultural sector) that you might have been involved in while working in a public sector bank. With this profile, you should aim for a 700+ GMAT score to get an interview call from ISB.

For post-MBA job roles, you can consider investment banking, portfolio management, investment and security analysis, banking product management etc. Read this article to know more about post MBA career options for candidates like you with experience in BFSI sector.

Hope that helps. Feel free to register for a free admission consulting session if you have further queries.
All the best!

Hello Akansha001,
You have a good GMAT score of 740 for ISB. Being a female candidate will also improve your chances. Your entrepreneurial stint can be a plus if you put it right. But I am missing details of your venture. Also, I am missing your post-MBA goals.
In general, what can I see currently, one con of your profile is your IT experience. Make sure to talk about stories of impact, and leadership from your experience in the essays, both from your job at Nucleus and your venture.
Hope this helps.

Hi Rhythm596, I am assuming you are applying in R2. You still have few months with you. Try to push your score beyond 700, as this will significantly improve your chances.

In your post, while you've not given a glimpse into your goals and motivation for ISB, but all that can wait. GMAT has to your single and most important priority over the next few months.

Hi nikhilbhat, I do recall that in the last 3-4 years, there was only once when ISB started rolling out interview invites to candidates who had submitted their application, before the application deadline.

p.s. For International candidates, I believe it's rolling basis.

Hi Akansha001, while you may not be from a tier-1/2 institute, that GMAT score will lay all apprehensions about your academic abilities, to rest.

While you've not mentioned anything around your goals/motivation for MBA, I am hoping you are in the process of crafting a water-tight application.

Good luck!

Hi vamkrispk, unfortunately your low GRE score is really pulling your chances down.

Would suggest that you push this core up by at least 7-8 points.
