Hi,
Evaluating your profile as below:
GMAT and academic scores: The academic scores are slightly on the lower bandwidth, a higher than average GMAT (school average) would definitely support your application.
Adding something here which would add value to your application (you have not mentioned details here) - You should also explore your goals post MBA and work on any pre preparation for the role if required for a strong application.

All the best!

GMAT - indian bschools same as us bschools are obsessed with GMAT high scores.

Other than that u have a fair shot at converting the same if u do little bit research on school, career essays , motivationa essay and Get good lors.

Hope this helps

Hello Alastair9 hope you are doing well

I agree with the previous comments that you should target a higher GMAT score (think 730+) especially to make up for your mediocre academics. You must also understand that getting an ISB admission depends on numerous factors such as the effort you put into writing your essays, your career progression over the years and incremental responsibilities at work, exceptional leadership skills, extracurricular and community initiatives, ability to contribute to peer to peer learning, and careful deliberation over future vision and objectives. 47 months is a resonable duration to work for a company and establish a strong professional base. Would be interesting to know what are your key takeaways from this role and how this experience would fit with the goals you set for your future. From the brief you shared about yourself, it would not be possible to determine the uniqueness of your candidacy. Your ECs seem dated and do not show a continuous association with an initiative.

I suggest you go over this brief write up to get started on the basics of narrative preparation for your B School applications

Hi,

Requesting a profile evaluation :

GMAT : 760 | 99th Percentile (Q51,V42,IR1,AWA4)

I have been working as a consultant & digital marketer for 6 years now across the IT, Electronics, Apparel & Lifestyle, Healthcare, and Food & Drinks industries.

Though I have managed teams, however, it isn't a part of my official records of work and hence my experience counts as an individual contributor.

Here's a breakout of my academic performance :

10th (India-CBSE) - 70%
12th (India-CBSE) - 84%
Graduation (India) - CGPA (10-point) 7.9
1st MBA (India) - 63%

I am applying to IIM Ahmedabad for an executive MBA which will be my second MBA.

My key professional skills include :

- Social Media Marketing
- Media Planning & Buying
- Influencer Management
- Data Visualization (Google Data Studio)
- Setting up & managing web stores (WordPress & Shopify)

In my free time, I like to read and I have a keen interest in promoting mental well-being & women empowerment (I taught house-helps and their children around my neighborhood how to read)

Hello Ananya0593 hope you are doing well

Firstly, congratulations on the impressive GMAT score :)
With your experience of 6 years, a great GMAT score and a differentiated background in digital marketing and consulting, things do look good from a first perspective. However, in order to guide you better we would want to learn more about your story, specifically -

1. How have you demonstrated career progression in the last 6 years? What new learnings, and incremental responsibilities did you gain as you treaded this interesting career trajectory?

2. You already have an MBA from India. What were the key takeaways from your last MBA experience and how can an executive MBA/PGP from ISB/IIM at this point help you attain your objective?

Your profile description seems somewhat incomplete. For your applications. focus on highlighting the most unique aspects - work experiences / personal experiences to increase the odds of success. Reflect on the experiences where you took initiatives to resolve a conflict within teams, motivated co-workers and subordinates to expedite projects, and generated impact on business in terms of $$ through cost savings or revenue generation. B schools are big on community and diversity initiatives. While we trust your efforts in educating kids in the vicinity, if you can somehow substantiate your community work with proof (certificates or recommendations), that would be better.

You can refer to some other ideas on how to make notes on ECs more effective:

How to put together ECs when you don't have many

Notekeeping ideas for fall deadlines

Also, deliberate well on your post-MBA goals to show maturity in decision-making. You can refer to this write-up

If you wish to seek professional guidance on your application strategy feel free to reach out.

Best wishes

Hi, Alastair9,

Thanks for your post!

First, I would say you do have a decent GMAT score; however, ISB is a top-notch B-school; hence, a stellar GMAT score is a prerequisite. I would say you at least aim for a 710+; this would increase your chances of admission and help boost your overall profile. Finally, your overall GPA is somewhat ok and something that could be fixed easily in your case by backing them up with some substantial examples of leadership, decision-making, and analytical skills in your work tenure.

Coming to your profile, you haven’t mentioned much about your role & responsibilities. Hence, I would say you add more on critical projects, work environment, professional accolades, and promotions. About your ECAs, most are at the school or college level therefore, I would suggest you add at least some relevant volunteering and community work mentioning all about your contribution, the challenges faced, leadership roles played, the impact generated, and the relevant skills developed through your ECAs to bank upon them!

All in all, you do have a decent profile. Your GMAT score can be a game-changer; hence prepare well for the retake. Moreover, try to link your work experience, ECAs, and post-MBA goals by connecting dots between them in your school essays to mesmerize the adcom as you would need to convince the adcom; why do you think your future goals make sense! You are a relevant applicant and have a good chance at the ISB program; all you need is motivation, proper guidance, and build a stellar application for ISB. If you'd like, we are happy to hop on a call with you sometime this week to discuss your profile in length and further help you with your profile building strategy, feel free to book a free session with us at your convenience.

I suspect you might be a bit on the younger side. While you will meet the minimum work experience requirement, you are below the average of 3-5 years. Your internships will count towards your overall profile as added credentials, but not towards your full-time work experience.

Would you consider waiting a year? You will be a much stronger candidate if you do!

Hi Mansvi,

I believe you have a total of 10 months of experience right now which makes you eligible for the EEO option this application cycle?
Your internships are at enviable companies and I hope you made good use of your time there by learning new skills and working on a few substantial projects. That will hold you in good stead during the application and interview process. As with every other b-school, ISB would want to see your leadership potential and your ability to contribute to teams- stories from these internship experiences as well as your ECAs could give you the material to showcase these skills.

The one thing i would try changing in your profile is your GRE score- if you can retake it once and apply with a better score, that would really help.

Overall, you seem to have done well for yourself, and I am confident that if you continue on this career path, you will have the potential to get into several international MBA programs a few years down the line after gaining more work exp.

All the best and feel free to reach out

The GRE score is bit of a bummer, in your otherwise excellent academic credentials.

See if you can push that score by 4+ points. Clearly, you have work to do, in your Quant.

Hello,

Thanks for sharing your profile.

I am an ISB Alum, CO15, and have been assisting applicants to get into global business schools since then.

Your academics are great and if you score your targeted GRE score then you have a good shot.
Your work experience and extracurricular activities also strengthen your candidature.
As you have mentioned various projects you have been a part of, you need to clearly showcase the leadership roles and personal initiatives you might have undertaken during this time. ISB EEO values leadership roles since it is essential for future business leaders.

Just align your future goals with ISB EEO program and you have got yourself a strong profile.

As per your question about GRE or GMAT, both are acceptable and will not present any disadvantages.

For further assistance and detailed discussion, feel free to contact me at [email protected]

Hello ManasviJ,

Thanks for writing in.

Good to see some rich internship experience; this will definitely allow you a number of talking points to help strengthen your case for the ISB Early Entry Option. We would, however, suggest that you retake the GRE; there is the time at hand and a spike in this area will help strengthen your chances further.

The following video will prove to be helpful when you are working on your essays. Do check the same out.

Hello accessdenied2,

Thanks for writing in.

You have a strong academic record, a good pedigree (considering VIT), and a number of talking points in your profile. If you are able to bring out decent managerial skills while achieving your target GRE score, you have a good chance of making it.

GRE works fine and you needn't worry about taking the GMAT; aim for as high a score as you can so you can showcase a spike when it comes to this component of your application.

We hope this helps.

All the best!

Hello Alastair9,

You definitely need to work on improving your GMAT score as your current score is way under the average at ISB.

The work experience with Amazon will definitely be value-adding especially if we are able to bring out your leadership potential as well as showcase strong sync between your experience and career goals. You have not provided enough details pertaining to the same to help us assess your candidature better.

In any case, at this point, you must focus on improving your score, post which, the focus should entirely be on putting forth a set of compelling essays which are truly representative of your skills.

All the best!

Hello accessdenied2 hope you are doing well

For an attempt at EEO at ISB, I would suggest you bring out the most differentiated aspects of your profile and demonstrate an early start on leadership and cross-functional experience. Perhaps we need to discuss this in detail over a call but from the brief synopsis of your profile, I am unable to infer "the impact" you created in the areas you are associated with. For example, it is not unusual to be a member of a certain club in college, therefore, you must express how you were the force behind the ideas implemented in this project and quantify the impact. It is favorable that you have 15 months of work experience as an analyst but at the same time consider that this is a pretty common profile and does not make you stand out as a candidate unless you were fast-tracked in only 15 months because of exceptional leadership potential. You could do better on GRE too. All in all, do evaluate whether waiting for a few more years and strategically building up your profile appeals to you or not.

Reach out if you wish to discuss further

Best wishes
