simple way to attack this question
that / which : use which as we have comma before that and is wrrong ( essential and non essential modifier)
here the word only must be modifyin the sate of nature not the word man . so only option E is correct .

That is incorrectly used to introduce non essential modifier. As a general rule in GMAT that is not preceded by a comma. A B C out
(A) man is good only when in “the state of nature” but is corrupted by society, that
(B) only man is good when in “the state of nature” but is corrupted by society, that
(C) man is good when in “the state of nature” but is corrupted only by society, that
(D) only man is good when in “the state of nature” but is corrupted by society, which - changes meaning of the sentence.
(E) man is good only when in “the state of nature” but is corrupted by society, which
(A) man is good only when in “the state of nature” but is corrupted by society, that
(B) only man is good when in “the state of nature” but is corrupted by society, that

Incorrect modifier used - that with comma; with comma which is preferable ; eliminate A and C
Only man is good - changes the meaning entirely ; eliminate B and D
Correct answer = E
