Judging by the box office receipts, film audiences have had a surfeit of spectacular special effects and are more interested in good drama comedy, or engaging action than in seeing yet another spaceship explode. Film producers are getting the message, so in the coming year expect______

Pre-thinking: As the argument says that audiences are not liking the science fiction anymore and they are more interested in GDC and engaging action that what they show in the science fiction movies. it says that producers are getting this message so logically they should not be coming up with movies that have science fiction, in other words they should move away from the SF films.


(A) more science fiction in an effort to increase box office receipts - Incorrect as we won't expect to see any more SF and even if the SFs do release they would not have a great BO receipts as audiences don't like it anymore.


(B) fewer spaceships exploding, but no change in the amount of the other spectacular special effects used in science fiction - Same as A. no Change in SSE would not be appreciated by the audiences.

(C) the pendulum to swing away from science fiction, providing science fiction films continue to use spectacular special effects - CORRECT as the producers will move away from the SF films which still provide SSE. (I think "providing" should be changed to "Provided" as it might cause some confusion to the reader)

(D) more spectacular effects along with increasing levels of difficult stunt work - SAME as A & B.

(E) more films combining good drama with spectacular special effects - A close answer if you don't read carefully. The argument says that audiences are done with special effects in movies hence if you combine the same thing with something (good drama) most likely they're still not going to like it.
