I did my video about an hour ago and didn't experience the freeze-up at the one minute mark. Like others have said, just focus on what you're saying and put the freeze out of your mind.

How are you all dealing with the "Description of Duties" in the employment section on the app? There's no word or character limit, so I originally put a lot of info in there...but when I review the application proof, it seems like the description gets cut off after 6 lines. But then again, a lot of info on the proof is cut off (like my supervisor's title).

Did you just copy/paste what's already in your resume to those description boxes? Or write something new? Did you go long or short?

My video also froze up for about 5-8 seconds at the 1 min mark. The audio kept working though. I am not going to try another question. Sounds like lots of us are dealing with this issue so don't see it as a big deal.

I reached out to adcom and actually got the option to waive this portion of the application...not sure if that's a positive or negative. still have not decided. what do you guys think about possibly waiving it?

Why would you waive it? They still get to hear your response and see you on camera for over a minute. I think the pause is a non issue.

Spindletree
Does Kellogg move our application to Round 2 if the recommendations are received a few days later. My manager was supposed to write today but is out on a personal emergency. Not sure if he will complete it before deadline

I mailed them about it and they said that the recommendations have to come within the deadline to consider the application complete.

Just submitted the app! The Video essay did take some time to set up. I tried out all browsers and it worked only on Mozilla Firefox. The timer got stuck at 35 secs and I got scared that my video lasted just half a minute. But when it played after recording, it showed the actual length. And it takes a while to upload so do not cancel or refresh, else you will lose an attempt.

Interesting. If it is being waived for some, I don't think it will hold a lot of weight in the process. Anyone else got a waiver?

I tried to do the video essay but even the test video wouldn't finish uploading after I tried recording! I tried a few times with different browsers. Looks like I have to write to admissions about this. All that room rearranging to get a good background for nothing!

Seeing as there are so many waivers for the video going out, it probably won't be a huge factor in the decision. BUT, like most other parts of the app, if you knock it out of the park, I could see it really boosting your odds. Just my thoughts.

Also, another video tip: even after I clicked Stop Recording, it continued to record. So don't make a funny face or say something obscene after you tell it to stop recording :)

I have a question about the application form. It asks "will you be applying for financial aid?". I don't plan to apply for financial aid from banks or some other institutions, but I do plan to apply for scholarship. Which should I select then, yes or no?

I finished in 55 seconds and ended the recording early. For the question, I was able to say all I could think of in that time..... Will it be counted as a negative?

It'll say connection closed... but the browser will still show as if its loading something... leave it as it is... your video might still be uploading...

i tried once, it finished after 30 mins or so!

I got that occasionally when I was testing my computer. After an hour or so it started working normally, though. It may have just been a coincidence, but it started working after I plugged in my laptop.

I just submitted my application. The video recording did freeze at one minute with a gosh awful face, but hey what can you do?

I was under the impression that if you asked for an on-campus interview, once you submitted your application you were able to schedule a date. I have a very specific week in which I would be able to do an interview on campus, so I was trying to submit a little earlier than the rest of the crowd... but the only confirmation email I got was one saying that my payment has been received. Hope I didn't miss something!
