it would be really interesting to find out what was the lowest gmat total with which an Indian student has been given an admit for KF 2016. Am sure the average score would be more than 720

The average of the people I could find was 743 for indian applicants and 732 for all foreign applicants. Some people don't post their country so this is the best i could do.

if 720 is the lowest score then my dreams of getting a scholarship are shattered i guess

720 is not the lowest score. It is just the average :)

Yes but there is no way to find that out because not everyone who gets admitted might be active on any forum or ready to reveal their low GMAT score :P

This is the key to it all. First of all gmat club is definitely a higher portion of the general population of applicants. Just look at historical gmatclub vs the actual admitted gmat and gpa scores. Second, the average last year was 690 there is no way that it has actually jumped to 720+, maybe 700. If you read, 25% of people receive fellowships at unc and gmat is only a part of that equation. So, you need to be in the top 25%, in the holistic view of the admitions commitee, to get a scholarship. PS you are talking about getting scholarship to a top 20 school that is a good conversation to be having.

Second part not at you usmbaseeker.

Does anybody know any historical stats regarding scholarship for UNC?

Livery, As per the Businessweek profile for Kenan-Flagler, 71% of all incoming students receive some scholarship amount and 89 students receive a full tuition scholarship.

Hi everyone,

I need some help and advice. Quite late in the app cycle did I realize that Kenan's admission is an open interview process. So I have scheduled my interview with an alumni.

Couple of Qs:

Is KF an open interview process? i.e. everyone gets a chance to interviews and there are no interview invites that go out.

Is interviewing with an alum a good strategy?

Appreciate your help!

Thanks!

From the unc website:

"Merit Fellowships

The decision to pursue an MBA is a significant financial one. We are able to provide full and partial tuition merit fellowships for exceptional applicants. Almost 30 percent of UNC Kenan-Flagler students receive some fellowship assistance."

My bad. It is actually 71% of students receive "aid".

Whats wrong in hoping that we are part of the vast pool of 71% who get financial aid of some sort? UNC is considered a generous school and is it a whimsical fantasy if someone wants to save a few cents .... remember each cent counts. Thats what we are supposed to do after an MBA i.e Try and have a maximum ROI :-D

God no. Till now I know of 2 people who got full ride, 1 75%, me at 50%, and a couple others below that. I highly doubt a school would have enough money for 89 full schols. I reviewed stats from other sites and approx 30% receive some schol, with just 10 or so full schols/premier fellowships(not sure about that no.)

As you are aware of your scholarship, I assume you applied in early action round. UNC AdCom must have thought that all the early action fellas are desperate enough to get into this school. Hence, they may not offer you as much scholarship as they may to R1 and R2 guys. In addition, R1 guys/gals are cooler that Early Action lads. 8-)

dawg that's effin depressing. but maybe what you say is true. or maybe like duke they know that whoever apply to ea know a fair amount about the school and it is not a backup choice for them, so they might have reserved most of the money for them. I guess we will never know until the pool all our cash in, will we?

Yup I agree with that... I got an email from Sherry that most of the scholarships are given in R1 and R2 and that was when I was not able to submit my application by EA. So I guess we are indeed the cooler kids 8-)
