Hi everyone!

I'm a 22 year old girl from Sweden that's trying to get into a business school abroad. I am having difficulties with both the math part and the verbal. But I'm keeping my hopes up!

I am looking forward to seeing all the discussions at this forum.

Kindly,

Hi All,

I'm a 26 year old Nigerian with 6yrs experience in consulting. Took GMAT last year and scored 650 (poor verbal performance).

Was dinged after interview at Booth in round 3. This year I'm retaking the GMAT (just starting my preparations) by mid-July and apply to schools in Round 1.

Hello Everyone,

I am an Indian, currently doing my MBA at IIM Shillong. My specialization in my MBA is Finance. I have given my CFA Level 1 this June and I have got a job in Equity Research division of a MNC bank starting April, 2015. I am interested in making my career in Equities market, something related to Equity Research or Equity Portfolio Management. Since most of the jobs in India are back-end jobs, I am wanting to shift to US. This is why i want to pursue another post graduate degree in US. So which one should I go for, MS in Finance (or) MBA in Finance itself ?

Thanks in advance.

Hello Everyone !!
I'm Ajay, working as software engineer in a MNC in hyderabad.
I started my GMAT preparation 2 weeks back. I have taken the first GMATPrep test before starting my peparation as per friend's advice.
I scored 480. I am good at quant but committed silly mistakes which I came to know later, I did not do good in verbale infact it was boring for me.
I am planning my exam in 2 months. I would like to prepare well and crack 720+ in GMAT exam. I hope I could get guidance about the test preparation strategies from this community with all your help.

I would also be interested preparing in group which helps in sharing knowledge. Anyone who is also interested ping me.

Kindly share your valuable advice regarding preparation especially in verbal.
Thank you

Regards
AJay

Hello everyone.

My names Freddy.

I'm from London, England. Currently residing in Japan as an assistant English teacher.

Having not used my brain for two years, I want to take the GMAT and hopefully my MBA in Japan.

Took my first practice test today to get a feel of the questions and time limits.

Scored a very bad 380 after guessing 80% of the questions. I've never been good at maths, so it's time to start studying!

Apologies in advance for any stupid questions asked!

HI all,

My name is Sepideh and I'm currently in the Seattle area. I got my BA in Communication. I taught English in China for the past 3 years. I had another job lined up in Macau before I came back to the US, but that fell through because the government didn't approve of the visa. So now I'm back preparing for the GMAT/B-school.

Schools: I hope to get into: Vanderbilt, and am looking to apply to: Kellog, Faqua, and UVA.

My target score is 650+. Currently, I'm testing at 360. So, I have a step climb. Unfortunately, I'm a horrible test taker (give me a paper or presentation any day!), and I'm afraid that my GMAT score will be under 600, dashing my dreams.

Math is my weakest, and IR gets me as well, but that's usually because I take too long to get to the answer. Also, for the qunat section, I sometimes find myself "stuck," and don't know how to start solving the question. I'm fine once I get a hint, but alas, we get no hints on the GMAT!

So, that's me. :-D

Hi

i had the same question before deciding to go for MBA. when i have questions, i always go ask people for help and advice. so i asked people with finance experience for advice. based on what they told me was that if you want to go pro in finance field and concentrate on research, then you should get yourself more specialised in finance; However, if you want to go for management after a couple of years work experience in the field, then MBA would be the best approach which not only builds you up with crucial managerial knowledge and leadership skills but also provides you with more opportunities for you to go another higher level in your career.

so i guess if you are more interested in equities research, then do master of finance, perhaps get qualified by CFA, which would give you a great amount of competitive edge, comparing to people who are not qualified.

i hope this helps.

Cheers

Hello Everyone,

My name is Wally and I am an Army Luitenant currently stationed in Fort Polk, LA. I currently hold a BSc in Nursing and I am aspiring to get into Health Administration & Management. The Army offers a scholarship program to get a combined MHA/MBA degree but one of the requirements is a GRE with 310 score or GMAT with a minimum score of 575. I have decided to take the GMAT because it is geared specifically for business degrees which is what I am aspiring to be.

My goal is to score above 650 to have a competitive edge in getting awarded the scholarship. My only school of choice with this scholarship is Baylor University in San Antonio, TX. I have signed up to take the exam in October and so far, I have been studying for about 2 weeks.

I look forward to reading , discussing and getting any useful tips as I prep for the exam and I also hope to share my success story to help others as well.

Hi everyone!

I'd say my name but it wouldn't mean much to you because it's Croatian. I'm a 22 year old student and marketing enthusiast from Croatia, currently finishing my second year of uni, pursuing a bachelors degree in entrepreneurial economics.

My goal is to do a masters in marketing after graduating, preferably in a top marketing school like ESADE or Kellogg as the US version. My GPA is solid (~3.8), extracurriculars are very good as well, the only problem is my lack of work experience.

Oh, and my GMAT abilities leave a lot to be desired at this point. Good this is, I'm applying in 14 months, so there's more than enough time to improve.

I just took my first prep test and scored a mediocre 510, but it's interesting how I got that score. I see most people have trouble with the verbal part, and I had a solid V42, but a shocking Q18. It's very clear what I need to work on

I won't be posting much in the coming weeks, but I'll start prepping in the fall so you'll hear more from me then.

Cheers!

Hi Everyone,
I am a Canadian working in clinical research in Toronto. I have background in public health and health research. Not a common one for MBA aspirant but I know that a lot of what will happen in the future in my field will require an MBA or other type of accredited business background, which is why I am hoping to get ahead of the curve and go for MBA. I have not taken any, practice tests yet but have just joined the forum and going through the study material to get a feel of what it will look like.

All the best to everyone!

Hi Everyone,

I earned an MBA in 2009 and then proceeded directly into a PhD program at the same institution. Needless to say, I've been hanging around the business school at my university for a long time.

Since 2008 I've also managed to TA more MBA classes than seems normal or healthy, but I actually really enjoy TA'ing. Lately I began recording some of the review sessions that I conduct for the core statistics class and making the videos available online. This led to me launching a full online review course for business statistics with the idea of providing help for students who are taking courses in introductory statistics and probability. The videos it contains are the online equivalents of the TA Review Sessions that I offer throughout a typical quarter. In case it can help you, the course is available here for free through the following link: https://www.udemy.com/statshelp/?couponCode=Variance

I hope that the course can be helpful to members of this forum. If they are, I hope that you'll let me know - or, even better, write a review!

Best of luck in your applications and in school!
