Question

For ISB or IIMs can we get a colleague of ours to write the LOR?

Definitely  not  recommended, since chances of bias are very high.

An ideal recommender is your immediate  supervisor  who is most likely to have an unbiased opinion about your work, and also has a bird's eye-view on your performance vis-a-vis the performance of your peer-group.

There is a clear pecking order in terms of the right referees, starting from Best to Worst-

Client>Senior Management (only if they know you and can comment on your work)>Direct Supervisor>Senior Manager (Not supervisor) >Colleague>Juniors>Faculty>Friends>Vendors>Family. Colleagues and ranked below should be avoided.

No. You should get the recommendation from someone senior to you in the hierarchy.

Having a colleague or a peer recommend you is never a good idea. There will always be a chance for bias.

You should always get your reporting supervisor or any other senior who works or has worked closely with you to recommend you.
