did anyone else today receive an invitation to a "reception for future LBS students" to meet "alum and your future fellow students?"

I applied R2 and interviewed, and am a little baffled by this email. Surely we'd receive a more formal congratulatory acceptance notification first, even if we were accepted?

You just made hundreds people nervous :-D No emails for me. Are you UK resident ?

it's in the Washington DC area. It's on April 4 so my best guess is that due to the short window of time between the official notification date, and the event, they wanted to give people adequate time to prepare. Is it worth getting in touch with Admissions to try and clear up the picture?

Yeah, I understand that - which is why I have discussed this with a variety of people, reviewing part by part making sure I am not reading too much into it etc. I also have interviewed with other schools, so you get the sense. But after going through an interview where the person asks you nothing about you... I cannot imagine what one can write as an assessment from that.

I reviewed those clearAdmit interviews too.. atleast there are questions like - why LBS, How will you contribute to LBS etc.

I know the email will be pre-emptive and runs the risk of being reviewed negatively, but then post decision its a moot point anyways.. Rather proactive than reactive... i'd think. Thank you for letting me think this out loud. Shorter email it is.

ps. I didn't even get a response on the thank you note (not that that indicates anything)

I'm catching up to this chain of posts late, but it looks like you have an alum reaching out on your behalf which is great.

Just to share my story, I also had a very poor interview experience (you can search for my post earlier in this thread--just search for "syria" and you'll see it.) My regret is that I didn't act on it sooner. At the time, I didn't realize that the interview I got was non-standard compared to others and the general consensus of everyone I've talked to including other LBS alums who do interviews themselves is that I got shafted

At any rate, I sent a letter to the AdCom about my interview experience (with help from EssaySnark.) However, i sent it after my decision was rendered, so there was very slim chance anything could be done. Regardless, I got a thoughtful and personal reply from the Admissions Committee, so I appreciated that.

I've moved on at this point. When I think about, it's still a bit of sour grapes for me. But I'm focusing on other things rather than dwell on this.

Hi guys, got the acceptance e-mail yesterday!
Japanese applicants got an early decision notice.

Very tough decision to make between Kellogg, Tuck, and LBS.
All three are so great schools and such a great pleasure to be accepted.

The mail came around 20:15 Tokyo time.
It was indicated in the interview indication email back in Feb that all decisions for Japanese will be made in 22.
I think each region has each of its dates and if not notified, that region's decision will all come out on 28.

Thanks Seina, that definitely calms my nerves knowing Japan had an per-defined earlier date! Are you saying the early decision date was mentioned in your interview email?
