for me it was b/w A and C...

"same heritage as..."

b/w "do not share same ethnic heritage" and "do not have same heritage" I picked the latter, because you don't share the same heritage per se... you either have it or you don't... meaning you can't divide the heritage in half and say this part is mine and this one is yours...

Will go with B.

A/C/E are out. As Northeasterners is incorret with share. Comparison between ethnic heritage and people. Also share..... with is the correct indiomatioc form

D - because has higher precedence over due to

Now that I know the OA. I think it makes sense.

The comparison is correct in C. It compares people versus people unlike in the other options where ethnic heritage is compared with People

I understand why it is better to have than to share a same heritage, but C seems to be worse than B, since the comparison is incomplete:

...same heritage as Norheasterners DO...

In such case, it is almost impossible to make a correct choicie!

because many residents of the Southeast do not share the same ethnic heritage as Northeasterners(meaning as northeasterners many residents do do not share the same ethnic heritage??????)

(C) is clear in the comparison.

That's an interesting point of view!
I had always understood this SC in this way : that the south and north dont have the same heritage.
C would be then false, because the ellipsis can be misinterepreted:
"... do not share the same heritage as northeasterners DO"
Or
"... do not share the same heritage as the heritage of NE".

But B is also false

You understand it as : people of the north share the same heritage and southeasterners dont share the same heritage.
I think C would be false in this case too, because LIKE rather than AS should be used.
If your understanding is correct, though, then the rest of the sentence doesn't make much sense. The coleslaw would be popular in NY and in Boston, and in the south would be popular only in one city, Richmond or Raleigh.
Since the coleslaw isnt't popular at all, then both people dont share the (same) heritage.

Is there anyone who can explain why C is the correct answer?

U2 Lover girl is absolutely correct.

X does not share an ethnic heritage with Y, rather X shares aspects/attributes of an ethnic heritage with Y...
