Hey guys,

I was accepted into the program a few weeks ago and was wondering how big will the class size be this year? The MBA.PM 2017 facebook group only has 86 members and there are only 90 student profiles on the MBA.PM welcome website. This is far fewer than the ~230 people that matriculated last year. I'm still deciding between USC and another school and just wanted to get a gauge on how big the class will be.

Class size was cut by 25%. Core B from the LA campus was dropped. With that said, why is a class size part of your decision process?

Part of an MBA program is the network you build. The drop in application year over year could mean less top tier students applying to the program and thus less people to network with in your class. Five to ten years ago, Marshall and Anderson probably split MBA-caliber students 50/50. If the split is now 25/75, for example, in favor of Anderson, it makes sense to go to Anderson if you want to build a more extensive network with high quality students and professionals. I submitted my app to Marshall the last week of May and received my acceptance within a week. The quick response was great but makes me wonder if Marshall is struggling to fill seats for the program.

With that said, USC's program and network is great. Nothing can beat the Trojan network in LA. I do think Marshall will rebound since there is a lot of money being pumped into the program. When I graduated undergrad a few years ago, I was sure I was 100% positive I was going to get my MBA from Marshall. However, the downward trend in class profile is disturbing and not something that can't easily be overlooked.

Well said. So does this mean you will be accepting Anderson instead?

I'm still deciding. I've met people in both programs and I can say that the MBA.PM people are more fun. That is probably a reflection of the average age of the program (I believe it is 28 or 29 at Marshall, compared with early 30s at Anderson). Anyways, I'm leaning Anderson, but Marshall is still on my mind. I have a week before I have to pay my deposit at both schools so I'm going to take my time.

Didn't they tell you that you will hear from them today?

Yup, got rejected. My application is weak overall, so I was expecting a no from Anderson. I'd say I'm a long shot at best for Marshall, but I got my fingers crossed.

Yes. I was told I would likely hear by this Friday. I was also told I would hear by June 5 when I first called in May. I tried calling just now and there is no answer. Monday will be the start of the 8th week...I am starting to get pretty annoyed about this.

Rejected. I submitted my app the last day of Round 3.

I e-mailed them today asking for a status update and got a response saying it was available. So I checked and it said my decision was posted yesterday.

I had applied to LA (Tues and Thurs) but then e-mailed them a week ago to say I wouldn't mind attending the OC (Tues and Thurs) campus either. Got a response the day of saying they made a note of it on my application.

Sorry to hear that. Did you apply to any other schools?

My advice is to take the GMAT again (middle 80% is a good range to aim for, it's not easy taking it again and again, but I do know a person who took it 7 times), get more work experience, and write a really good re-application essay. I hear your chances increase greatly the next time you apply, plus it's a lot easier to complete the paperwork.

Anderson, and I already heard back from them (no). Definitely going to schedule an application review with both schools.

I've used up a lot of GMAT resources (practice problems and exams) since I took the GMAT twice. I think I'm going to look into taking the GRE this time around.

I applied the last day and got in today! I heard that this is their strongest class ever... so the smaller class size= better students
