Hey guys,
I was accepted into the program a few weeks ago and was wondering how big will the class size be this year? The MBA.PM 2017 facebook group only has 86 members and there are only 90 student profiles on the MBA.PM welcome website. This is far fewer than the ~230 people that matriculated last year. I'm still deciding between USC and another school and just wanted to get a gauge on how big the class will be.
Class size was cut by 25%. Core B from the LA campus was dropped. With that said, why is a class size part of your decision process?
Part of an MBA program is the network you build. The drop in application year over year could mean less top tier students applying to the program and thus less people to network with in your class. Five to ten years ago, Marshall and Anderson probably split MBA-caliber students 50/50. If the split is now 25/75, for example, in favor of Anderson, it makes sense to go to Anderson if you want to build a more extensive network with high quality students and professionals. I submitted my app to Marshall the last week of May and received my acceptance within a week. The quick response was great but makes me wonder if Marshall is struggling to fill seats for the program.
With that said, USC's program and network is great. Nothing can beat the Trojan network in LA. I do think Marshall will rebound since there is a lot of money being pumped into the program. When I graduated undergrad a few years ago, I was sure I was 100% positive I was going to get my MBA from Marshall. However, the downward trend in class profile is disturbing and not something that can't easily be overlooked.
