Hello Friends,
I am 36 years old and i had done Petroleum engineering in 2007. I have 13 years experience as an engineer.
i am working in oil & gas industry and have 5 years international experience. I want to pursue MBA from any top school from USA. My question is, is it ok now at my age to go for MBA and what short of MBA degree should i consider? The basic cause to do MBA is to move forward in my carrier and take some more challenging roles in the Companies. and as per my profile how much GMAT score required to find a place in good school?
Hi
RRayNot as experienced as you are, but I also have 9 years of work ex. and looking forward to get my MBA.
I talked to a few people, including the ones graduated from ISB, IIMs and even one from HBS, and they all said that it's better to do it when you are ready and when MBA will help you grow from your current position.
Some people also had a view that its good to do it if you want to change your industry.
Around 10-15% of the class is still the people above 30 years of age. The proportion in some schools is even higher.
So, yes. IMO its wise to do it, especially when you are feeling career stuck.
As far as GMAT score is concerned, it's best to get above the target School's average.
So, say if your target is HBS, 740+ is a safe side.
