McCombs (UT Austin) vs McDonough (Georgetown)

Hi everyone, I was lucky to get admission offers to some good schools, and have narrowed my decision to two of them, McCombs and McDonough. I received scholarship awards in both schools, and, the total cost of attendance for McCombs would be US$ 10k, so I am not heavily considering the money factor at the moment. I currently work in Product Management in the Chemicals sector and plan to transition to Consulting (will apply to top firms in Brazil, my home country) or to Product Management in Tech (will apply to positions in the US). Although Georgetown has a better placement in Consulting, I would be able to apply for MBB and other top firms in my home region studying in any of these two schools, as I have heard from Consulting professionals. In Tech, however, I believe McCombs has an advantage. Other factors that I have also been considering: - McDonough is part of a very prestigious University and has an outstanding facility, so I believe the school may grow in rankings and in recognition in the following years, as did Yale SOM in the past decade. - McCombs is part of a more regional University (in my view; please correct if I am wrong), but may also grow in rankings and in recognition in the following years once it opens its new building, Rowlling Hall, this year. I would really appreciate your thoughts! Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using GMAT Club Forum mobile app

Congrats Actually, I would not support McDonough for internationals who want consulting. Most of the recruitment in McDonough is for consulting which deals with federal agencies that demands American nationals. I would go to McCombs. I would not bother myself with ranking that much. McCombs is higher than McDonough. I would not base my decision about future factors of ranking. Good luck

Congrats! I would not speculate about rankings either and agree with mo2men. The reason Yale has gone up is because it had been up there and had gone down over time - see the 10-year history here: https://gmatclub.com/forum/mba-rankings ... ml#p770991I would only use the current information you have and not speculate about future. I doubt there would be meaningful movement for McDonough and yes, being in DC, it is a fairly DC-oriented school and the main industry in DC is politics (though of course large companies have headquarters there too - Hilton, CapitalOne, and lots of famous companies lining the Dulles Airport freeway. FWIW: 69% of McDonough grads are employed at graduation vs. 78% at McCombs....
