Same question- Why is rarely preferred over scarcely?

Posted from my mobile device
Scarcely means probably/certainly not -> e.g. One could scarcely expect the girl to know how to fly a plane
Rarely means that something does not ocurre at a regular interval -> e.g. I rarely go to the movies
Therefore in this case D is correct

when to use scarcely and rarely?
Need to understand the difference between option A and option D
Scarcely means probably/certainly not -> e.g. One could scarcely expect the girl to know how to fly a plane
Rarely means that something does not ocurre at a regular interval -> e.g. I rarely go to the movies
Therefore in this case D is correct
