Hello!
I was wondering in terms of renown, employability, and other factors, the pro and cons of LBS, INSEAD, and ESCP MIM.
To start a career in marketing in France but to evolve to international and hopefully a leadership position.
Because INSEAD MIM is new but the name is still really famous, and LBS is top of ranking but only 1 year whereas ESCP offers a longer study time.
Are LBS and INSEAD really better for career prospects than ESCP?
Many Thanks
Hey!
I am going to try and make a list of pros and cons of each school. Hopefully, that should help you or anyone else reading this in the future evaluate your options.
LBS MIM:
Pros:- Ranked 4th in the world for MiM. 2nd most competitive MIM program to get into, after HEC Paris MiM.
- Solid brand value internationally.
- Great Alumni Network
- Intensive 1 year program. Can be good for individuals that are sure about their career objectives and can adapt and manage the intensive curriculum.
- You finish your master and get a job in a little over a year.
- Located in London, a prominent financial hub in Europe.
Cons:- Intensive curriculum. If you are a fresh non-management grad with 0 years of work experience, might find it hard to adapt. Gives you little to no time to explore your post MiM career opportunities.
- 50% of class gets a job in UK. Less French jobs as French employers are considered to prefer hiring from top French Business Schools like HEC/ESSEC/ESCP over other schools in general.
- Slightly lesser average starting salary (49k Euros)
- Fees - 42k Euros
INSEAD MiM:
Pros:- Solid brand value internationally.
- Great Alumni network.
- Known to be the best for Consulting.
- Intensive program (similar to LBS MiM)
- You finish your master and get a job in a little over a year.
- Diverse placement in terms of Job locations. (Many Asian job opportunities)
Cons:- New program, no stats to compare as the first class is only just graduating. Doesn't feature in the rankings for the same reason.
- Not a general top choice among applicants when compared to LBS. But yet, can be considered among the most competitive to get into after HEC, LBS and ESSEC.
- Not the best idea if you wish to seek employment in France.
- Most costly when compared to LBS/ESCP. Fees - 49k Euros
ESCP MiM:
Pros:- Ranked in top 5 or 6 in the world for MiM.
- Great brand value in France and the rest of Europe. Great idea if one wishes to work in France after graduation.
- Multi-Campus program(across Europe) in financial hubs across Europe(Paris, London, Berlin, Madrid, Warsaw, Turin) , providing job opportunities from each campus through career fairs in each.
- 2 year program with an optional gap year or semester. Can be great if one wants to explore the management field and do multiple internships to strengthen their profiles.
- Great average starting salary of 55k Euros with a 99% placement rate.
- Freedom to design your curriculum based on various specializations offered.
- Option to get multiple master degrees (refer the school's website for more)
Cons:- Not very renowned outside Europe yet. Less reputed when compared to LBS/INSEAD.
- You need to spare 2-3 years for the degree. Not a great choice if one wishes to get a full time job asap.
- Not a general top choice among applicants when compared to LBS. But yet, can be considered among the most competitive to get into after HEC, LBS and ESSEC.
- Language constraint. Although learning French isn't compulsory, it's highly advisable.
Note: These are my observations/opinions/evaluations based on my research while applying to MiM programs.
My advise to you: If you are really sure you want work in France after graduation, apply/go to ESCP or HEC or ESSEC. (ESCP>INSEAD>LBS) If having an internationally renowned school in your CV is more important, apply/go to LBS/INSEAD. (LBS>INSEAD>ESCP)
Although I feel with the exponential rise in MiM's popularity, Business schools like ESCP are bound to become more renowned.
Hope this helps
