Hey, I'm thinking of applying to some MiM schools next year (2020-21 cycle). This is what my profile looks like. Can someone help me out with the sort of schools I should target, if any? I am absolutely clueless with regard to international business schools.

GMAT: 760 on the practise test

GPA: 75%

School: IIM Indore, BA (Foundations of Management) [fairly selective, takes 120 from ~20000 applicants]

Extracurriculars: President of the Treasury of the Students' Council

Convener of flagship Strategy Consulting event

Vice President of Consulting Club

Captain of Debating Team

Founder and lead of undergraduate research forum of the institute

Also hold a couple of team lead positions on finance and participation teams in college fests.

Maintain two blogs on economics

Won some B-School competitions, nothing too impressive. Also won some debates.

Communication skills: decent.

Two research projects with potential to publish, but nothing too certain as of now.

Some community social work such as zoo clean ups, underprivileged children scholarship test organization, disable children teaching, tree plantations etc.

Hi alchya,
I must say that you have a very strong profile , GPA, International experience and Extra-curriculars are pretty solid.
From the ROI perspective, I would suggest you to target the schools of the strongest brand first and then look at the ones which would give you double degree options.
You have a background in Duel degrees so you can use it to highlight your motivation towards pursuing more specializations at the Masters level.
660 GMAT would be tough for all your target schools, except EDHEC. But this being said, as you have a strong profile you can compensate for it if you are articulate about your application.
Yale, HEC, St.Galllen, LBS, LSE are dream schools where you will be competing with applicants with similar
profiles themselves, so the focus will be on how well can you differentiate your profile and justify why you are a good fit for the program.
EDHEC is more of a safe school for you, the rest are competitive.

As far as the LOR is concerned, it is often under-rated so be very precise in choosing the right recommendations. LORs should be written by people who have worked/are associated closely with you, irrespective of their professional standing.. Make sure you provide a framework to your Recommendors on what to cover in the LOR ; open LORs tend to digress.

Hi, I would really appreciate help with my profile evaluation.

I'm a BTech- Mechatronics final year student (female, Indian) from Manipal University, Jaipur.
CGPA- 7/10
GMAT- 700

Extracurricular-
Helped organise several college fests including TEDx
been part of 3 MUNs
volunteered in various local NGOs.

Professional experience: 3 internships of 2 months each at various marketing organisations.

MOOC courses: I have completed 7 MOOC courses, all related to innovation, finance, entrepreneurship and marketing.

I'm looking at universities in UK, France, Germany or Italy for courses in MIM.


It would be a great help if you could suggest more schools that would fit my profile.

Hi All,
Would be extremely grateful to have my profile reviewed here, targeting 21' intake for MIM programs at ESSEC, ESCP, ESADE, HEC Paris, EDHEC (ESSEC would be my 1st choice)


My profile is as follows -

Indian IT Engineer, 23 Yrs Old

B.Tech in Computer Science from UPES, specialization in Business Analytics (IBM Certified Graduate) (Ranked quite low in NIRF Engineering Rankings though - 167/200)
Overall GPA - 6.6/10 (Low gpa but did go from a 5.0 to an 8.0 by final year of the course)

GRE - 316 (V- 153, Q- 163), Planning to take it again, will be applying in R1 to all.

Work Ex - Working with an IT Service based company (L&T Infotech) in release management domain for a top banking client in the US for over a year now, will have about 16 months of work ex at the time of applying.

Leadership Experiences -

A number of experiences here -

1) Editorial Head for a year in college, led a team of 8 members. Was also on the Editorial board of several other college level organizations.
2) Team Lead at AIESEC, Worked in Sales, Marketing. Led a team of 10.
3) Have been involved with various NGO's from School till end of college as volunteer and part of HR Committee (NSS,
GYG, Feeding India) (about 4 yrs in total)
4) Flagship Event Head in University Cultural Fest (Twice, led a team of 15, Event Management, Marketing, Sales)
5) Gold Medal in State Volleyball (10th Grade), Made it to nationals in 12th grade in Rifle Shooting but didn't win, only participation.

Internships -

1. Main Internship at an MBB Firm (Back Office, technical, Business Intelligence)
2. Marketing & IT Intern at a 5 star Luxury Hotel Chain (3 weeks) (Mostly Graphic Design, content creation and marketing analytics)
3. Android Trainee at a small IT company (MNC)

Experiences -

Worked as a freelance content writer for some time, eventually outsourced the work as I made some regular and well paying clients while taking care of editing. Short-lived since the website we used for bids (think iwriter etc) eventually went bankrupt and closed shop.

Working part time with a local fashion brand (digital marketing) (super small, just starting out)

International Experience - Don't know if it counts but visited 9 countries in Europe as a part of a trip in high school.

Post Masters Goal - Want to work in a Product Marketing in a Tech Firm.

Hobbies - Very involved in Photography and writing, instagram blogging.

Hi, alchya,

HEC Yale is known to be quite selective as its class size is small. Thus, you need to be much certain if you wish to opt for this double degree program over their MiM program. Nonetheless, HEC allows you to undertake 2 programs, you can opt for HEC Yale as the second program.

On the other hand, LBS is a great choice if you are looking for an international brand name and even work in the UK. It even has pretty good reach in Singapore and the middle-east.

CEMS is basically a double degree, allowing you to undertake studies from 2 different campuses. Hence, it's great for those seeking international exposure.

On the whole, speaking of difficulty to enter, Yale HEC is the toughest to crack followed by LBS. And entry to CEMS depends on the school you plan to target.

Hi dj1797,

Well, your GPA is a bit on the lower side and as you don’t have a college brand name in the undergraduate it can be an issue. Your GRE score is again a bit low especially if you are targeting schools such as HEC, ESSEC, and ESCP. Though you have better Admit chances at EDHEC and ESADE. But, I would strongly suggest you retake the GRE.

As for the work experience, L&T Infotech is a good brand but it is an IT company so make sure that you highlight the key projects and skills that you develop during your time.
Also, you have varied internships under your belt which can be an asset to your profile. Your other experiences such as content writing and digital marketing are concerned, will help you showcase your marketing skills. So, a pretty strong pitch can be made for consulting and marketing if you work on the above points.

Remember that you have to convince the Adcom that you are different from your peers.

On the extracurricular front, you have a pretty diverse profile, have held leadership roles, and taken social initiatives that matter a lot. Try to highlight how you have gone above and beyond and made a difference in the same.

Your international experience will definitely help you given that you talk about your observations there and how these trips helped you become a better person than you are today.

As a final verdict, I would say that you have worked on varied things and have a pretty diverse profile overall, but work needs to be done on your GRE score and portrayed your profile not just as an engineer working in an IT role but have the capability to work on the myriad of other activities and have created value.

Hello everyone,
I’m a 22 year old student from India.
I have completed my graduation in 2019 with 7.8 CGPA, Accountancy Honors. I am also pursuing Chartered Accountancy (CA) and my finals are due this November. I have 3 years of articleship experience in an audit firm, which is a part of my CA curriculum. I had the opportunity to handle and lead various projects during these three years.
My GRE score is 330.
I also have work experience of workin for a mid size business firm and handling all the areas of business for a month.
I have won the regional elocution competition organised by ICAI and also hosted the students national conference organised in my city. Further, during my high school, I have run a few stalls that fetched a 100% profit. I also have volunteering experience at an organisation’s three day campaign to felicitate meritorious students.
I am also co founder of a student’s community formed to help fellow students who wish to pursue CA.
Can you please evaluate the aforementioned profile.
My target college includes HEC Paris, LSE and LBS. Any other university recommendations are welcome:)
