Work experience and leadership
I did one internship a year ago, at a startup HR consultancy for 1.5 months.
My roles included screening candidates, scheduling interviews, feedback, confirmations and acceptance offers.
I have also been a part of various college societies:
a) Placement and Internship Cell- executive member and hosted the annual summit.
b) Nibs And Brushes- Senior member in the creative writing and fine arts society, won a short story writing competition at college level, part of the organising committee of annual event.
c) Connecting Dreams Foundation- President of the social entrepreneurship society in our college, with its various chapters across DU and Mumbai. Initiated a new project regarding the awareness and need of sex education.
Idea behind another project working for the employment for women in rural areas.
Part of the original team behind a sensitization and empowerment project for the LGBTQ community; volunteered at RISE, largest LGBTQ employment fair in India, an event by Pride Circle(international event) Associated with IBM global leader Tony Tenicela.
Will soon be launching another project for the digitisation of the rural community.
Won third place as Best Dream Team.
Came second in the Best Project Category.
Post Master goals
After careful observation and experimentation in various industries( HR, writing, industry, marketing) I have found that working in a consulting firm is what intrigues, sparks and works my brain the most. Namely, BCG, Pwc, Bain and Company.
Anything else?
I am aware I lack in internship experience, and international exposure which might create few obstacles for me to apply to top B-schools.
Although, I recently sent my profile to Ivey, HEC Paris, LBS and ESSEC. I received a positive response from Ivey, ESSEC, while I got a recommendation from HEC to get an internship in a consultancy to make my application strong and LBS has given a green signal regarding the eligibility.
Initially I started out with MIM when I came across St. Gallen's flagship SIM. Although it still remains a part of my target, I've landed on a few others-
Ivey business school, ESSEC, LBS, HEC Paris, HEC Lausanne, HEC Montreal.
I have started work on my application aspect and hope to overcome the weaknesses in other parts of my profile.
Hoping for an honest feedback.
Regards,
Jessica Chhabra
