Hello, I'd like to have a profile evaluation:

Age: 21
Previous work experience: 3 month full-time internship as a Business Development & Operations Assistant
Graduated in Economics and Management in 2020 (GPA 4.0)
No IELTS and GMAT, the first is not a problem at all, as I speak English fluently, my issue is with the GMAT as I am trying the online nightmare version tomorrow, but I already know it won't be a strong score (around 620, which is low, I know).
Targeted B-schools: 1st tier: LSE, Imperial College, Bocconi (I am evaluating both the International Management and Management courses, I know the latter is easier in terms of entry requirements)
2nd Tier: Alliance Manchester, UCL, King's College, etc. (any other suggestions?)

Thank you in advance

Hi MaxD97,
Well you have a pretty decent profile as such - GPA is good, having business related experience helps but be sure to back your experience with examples of workplace achievements and learnings.
I see that you are targeting primarily UK Schools - Well most of the UK schools place a heavy emphasis on academics, so your GPA will help you in the initial screeing process.
You will be happy to know that LSE has waived off GMAT for the final rounds, and other UK Schools do not need a mandatory GMAT score.
Here's how you can categorize your target schools ( I have added a couple of suggestions as per your profile)
Dream - LSE
Upper Competitive - Imperial, UCL, Cass
Competitive - Warwick, King's College, Bocconi
Safe - Manchester

If you want to discuss how you can improve your selection chances for the above schools, you can drop me a watsapp on 918810658356.
Would be easier to communicate over there.

A quick update - We have created a new school recommendor tool that will assign you a score on the basis of your profile and match you to your target schools on the basis of the score. Why don't you give it a try -You can access it by signing up here: https://www.mim-essay.com/register?utm_ ... gn=sign+up

Hi Nancy218,
Yours is one of the few profiles for which I am saying that all of your target schools are quite easily within reach.
UG Rank, GPA are pretty good - This is a leverage for German Schools that place an stringent emphasis on academics compared to the rest of the EU
While GMAT would have been an issue if you were applying to French/UK/US/Canadian schools where the competitive range is 690+, for Germany the average range is 650+, so yours just touches the range.
Military and International experience are two key Profile Differentiators, so highlight them in the right context.
Work experience looks fairly decent as well.
I would not worry about language proficiency at this stage, you can pick up a B2 level of proficiency during your program duration.
So, as I said you have a very strong profile - If you have a strong application, I can't think of a strong reason of rejection from your target schools.
However, in all fairness - WHU-HHL-Mannheim are the Top 3 in Germany and the tuition fees being more economical than the rest of the EU Schools, attract thousands of applicants from all over the world. So here your application would make all the difference - Personalize it and add elements out of ordinary in your application: For Eg. WHU is known as an Entrepreneur's school so can you think of any long term goals you can link to WHU's Vision? It is the personalization elements like these that will differentiate you from other applicants.

I have mentored many applicants to get into schools like WHU, HHL, Mannheim, ESMT, TUM, Frankfurt, in case you would like to discuss how we can personalize your application as well, you can drop me a message for a free consulting call here :https://www.mim-essay.com/book-an-appointment-form/?utm_medium=gmat+club&utm_source=link&utm_campaign=book+an+appointment

Hello All,

I am a student from Hong Kong who is now sending applications for some German universities for Master in Management (MiM) / Finance. Just want to know what will be a good option and how my profile looks like. Thanksss a lot for your help :)

Education Background / Exams

- 24 years old

- Graduated from one of the Top 3 Universities in Hong Kong, Bachelor in Quantitative Finance (GPA 3.5/4.0, equivalent to German 1.5)

- Exchange year in Maastricht University, the Netherlands (GPA 8.25/10.00)

- GRE V159/Q170, roughly equivalent to GMAT 740

- Passed all Financial Risk Manager exams (Part 1 and Part 2)

- Passed CFA Level 1 (90+%tile)

- German B2

- IELTS 8.0

Experience - Full-time Job / Internship

- Trainee (Graduate Analyst) in an international investment bank, Compliance area (2 years), offer received through Summer Internship (3 months)
- Full-time Intern at a human-resources consultancy firm, focusing on banking institutions (4 months)
- Full-time Intern at a commercial bank's compliance department (6 months)
- Part-time Intern at a consultancy firm for accounting / automation project (3 months)

I have currently applied to the following programs, as cost is a concern so I apply mostly for the state universities:

1) Goethe-Frankfurt University, Master in Money and Finance
2) Goethe-Frankfurt University, Master in International Management
3) Mannheim University, Master in Management (will choose Finance as concentration)
4) Technical University of Munich (TUM), Master in Management and Technology (will choose Finance / Industrial Engineering as concentrations)

I am hoping to either study finance and economics deeper, or understand business management and some other fields better. Hopefully I will be able to find a job in Germany after my studies as well. Just wondering if you guys have any advice on my profile and anything I should take care of :D Thanks all!

Hi everyone, could you please help evaluate my profile? Thanks a lot!

I am from Hong Kong and I will complete my undergrad studies in 2021 summer.

The school I am attending ranks the 3rd in Asia and 25th in the world. I expect to graduate with 2:1 honor, i.e. an average grade of B+.

My first GMAT exam in March was a complete disaster. I plan to retake asap and I am aiming for a 710+.

I am lucky enough to have diverse internship experiences. I have worked in the following fields, luxury real estate, banking (asset management related), professional services (advisory and aduit), microbusiness (overseas experience), and an NGO (overseas experience).

I am eyeing for a job outside Asia and that's why I plan to pursue a Master. I scored a decent 7.5 in IELTS two years ago so English should not be a big problem. However, I am a little hesitant to apply for B schools in Europe because I fear that not knowing the local language would severely undermine my chances of getting a job there.

Currently I only focus on Mim programmes offered by top B schools in the UK.

Thanks for helping me out!

Appreciaye your reply.
Now i have a question:
I suppose I ll be given an interview (at least I wish).
Once we passed the first round and then go to the interview, do they still take into account the academic stuff and our different experiences or the admission for the MiM will only depend on our answers during the interview?

Hi,

Background and nationality
Indian. 19.

Undergrad Information
BCom Hons.(currently pursuing-2nd year) CGPA till now- 7.5/10 from University of Delhi.
I also have a certification in Financial Markets.

GMAT/GRE
Will give in July, targeting 710+ (realistic)

Work experience and leadership
I did one internship a year ago, at a startup HR consultancy for 1.5 months.
My roles included screening candidates, scheduling interviews, feedback, confirmations and acceptance offers.
I have also been a part of various college societies:
a) Placement and Internship Cell- executive member and hosted the annual summit.
b) Nibs And Brushes- Senior member in the creative writing and fine arts society, won a short story writing competition at college level, part of the organising committee of annual event.
c) Connecting Dreams Foundation- President of the social entrepreneurship society in our college, with its various chapters across DU and Mumbai. Initiated a new project regarding the awareness and need of sex education.
Idea behind another project working for the employment for women in rural areas.
Part of the original team behind a sensitization and empowerment project for the LGBTQ community; volunteered at RISE, largest LGBTQ employment fair in India, an event by Pride Circle(international event) Associated with IBM global leader Tony Tenicela.
Will soon be launching another project for the digitisation of the rural community.
Won third place as Best Dream Team.
Came second in the Best Project Category.

Post Master goals
After careful observation and experimentation in various industries( HR, writing, industry, marketing) I have found that working in a consulting firm is what intrigues, sparks and works my brain the most. Namely, BCG, Pwc, Bain and Company.

Anything else?
I am aware I lack in internship experience, and international exposure which might create few obstacles for me to apply to top B-schools.
Although, I recently sent my profile to Ivey, HEC Paris, LBS and ESSEC. I received a positive response from Ivey, ESSEC, while I got a recommendation from HEC to get an internship in a consultancy to make my application strong and I still have to hear from LBS.

Initially I started out with MIM when I came across St. Gallen's flagship SIM. Although it still remains a part of my target, I've landed on a few others-
Ivey business school, ESSEC, LBS, HEC Paris, HEC Lausanne, HEC Montreal.

I have started work on my application aspect and hope to overcome the weaknesses in other parts of my profile.
Hoping for an honest feedback.

Regards,
Jessica Chhabra

As per my experience, B-schools look into the holistic profile, not into a single factor. At the same time, your GMAT score plays a vital role in their decision. First, they will go through the details that you have mentioned in the application. If they feel that your profile fits into the programme, adcom team will arrange an interview. Based on your interview performance they will give an offer letter.

Hi nikiboobs,
You have a pretty strong profile as such - GPA, UG Rank and work experience are pretty competitive.
LBS is a school that places a lot of emphasis on International experience, while HEC is a school notorious for recruiting from the Top 10 UG College of the applicant's nationality.
So while both are dream schools, your profile have enough elements to be considered competitive for both LBS and HEC.
The GMAT, however is a bit on the lower side, and I am going to be honest here -While I know applicants with 640 GMAT (and a strong application) get into LBS, it is going to be tougher for HEC (After all, it enjoys a Harvard Like Status for MiM).
Having said that, with a very strong application I am optimistic that you will bag an interview for all your target schools.
So just make sure that you present a top notch application and PERSONALIZE IT for each school (that is super important)

As a follow up to your second question - Once you are invited for an interview, your academics+GMAT+Essays+LOR+Resume will still matter. The Adcom will take a decision based on the cumulative strength of your Profile, Application and Interview.

Last application season, we have had 27 admits to HEC, 32 Admits to LBS, 58 admits to ESCP and 72 admits to ESSEC.
I am sure that I will be able to give you a few defining pointers on how to increase your selection chances at these schools.

You can book a free call with me to discuss more:https://www.mim-essay.com/book-an-appointment-form/?utm_medium=gmat+club&utm_source=link&utm_campaign=book+an+appointment

I received a positive response from Ivey, ESSEC, while I got a recommendation from HEC to get an internship in a consultancy to make my application strong and LBS has given a green signal regarding the eligibility.

Jessica Chhabra

Hi,
Can anyone please help out here. I am hoping to apply in the first round itself for 2021 batch, and the evaluation will help me set a practical way to go about it. Hoping for some response!!!

Query regarding work experience.

What will be the time period consideration of the tenure of my work experience?

Will it be the time span till I've applied to a particular b-school
Or
Till the time span I join the b-school? Considering the gap between the 2 events is roughly 1 year?
