Hey Abhishek,

I think you have a fair shot in INSEAD and LBS only and only if you showcase how you are not just another Engineer through your essays. I still am not sure on your UG brand name. That plays an Important role for HEC specially. While you have Projects and an Internship too the Impact is going to be very Important. You should start collecting Instances within these projects and Internships so that you can showcase how your experiences make you unique. Remember you are going to be competing with people coming from BCG, Deloitte having a direct business Impact. So always ask yourself what different can I bring to the table? go deep into the experiences and thats what gonna get you an admit!

Would love to chat with you if you have any further doubts.

Hi, I am a current final year undergrad in Rotterdam School of Management. I come from China, male.

My GPA is 8.2/10 (4.0/4.0 equivalent, UK 1st class equivalent, expected to maintain this score until and after graduation), GMAT focus edition 735 (Q86, V89, DI84).

Did 3 finance internships in different Chinese banks (financial advisory, forex trade, equity research), one finance part-time working student in a big Chinese infrastructure company, one consulting related internship in a large industrial US company in NL.

I served as treasurer and player at my university's football society (broke my skull at a game, that also justifies my relatively not-so-high GPA, had my president to write me a reference to account for this).

I spent one year in a top 10 Chinese university before coming to RSM (because RSM requires non-international-high-schooler to have one semester's transcript at uni before applying to them), got 3.6/4.0 (not very high because once I reached minimum requirement of RSM I stopped trying so hard, I do not know whether this will have a negative impact), founded a Model United Nation when I was there.

Could you evaluate my odds of being admitted by Oxford MFE, Msc Finance at LSE and Imperial College and LBS MFA?

Thank you so much in advance!!!! Wish you the best!

Hey,

I would say you have a really really nice profile!

We have recieved Admits from profiles even less competant than yours!

I think you have a great shot! Just focus on your story more and I feel you would get into most of the programms you are targeting given your GMAT score.

Colleges that you are targeting seem fine. You can also add HEC if you like it!

All the best!

Hey,

Law student from India's best Law University. When I joined the program their intake was just 80 students and approx 70k people write clat.
CGPA - 3.7/7.0 (Confusion here because on percentage scale its 67% and also the batch average at my uni stands at 4)
Major reason for bad acad was chronic illness because of which i also had to take sabbatical for 2 years and completed my degree in 7 years. (does the sabbatical effect me)
Internship experience (no job ex)- though not relevant but have worked with supreme court judges and advocate generals (most prestigious internships) Worked with M&A teams of top Indian law firms (3 internships) Worked with A fast food chain and a cosmetic company and have handled their communications, strategy and relations. Worked with a legal recruitment firm as well. Worked with couple of professors from top university as their research assistant.

Volunteer experience - Have worked with around 3-4 Ngos in different capacities.

Co curriculur and extra co curriculur -
Extensive experience of International Negotiations competition where I played the role of client in the team, these competitions are organised by organization like International Chambers of Commerce and schools like Warsaw School of Economics and are also attended by top bschool students.

ADR mentor for the university, conducted various workshops for training students in college and also coached various teams for international competitions.

Convenor the event management committee, conducted india's biggest student run rock fest where we secured fundings of 5 million inr.

Part of Student coordination committee of student bar association.

Extensive organisational and Leadership experience in other events in college as well.

8 Research paper publication in reputed journals and blogs.

State level sports player and medalist in school at table tennis, chess and fencing.

Gmat - hopeful of getting 715 - 735 FE based on mocks performance.

Thinking of attaining alt transcripts for showing math readiness like Mba maths.

Also additionally ran a small start up in college selling merch, had profits of nearly 1-2 million Inr though don't know how to prove this, website and all do exists.

Where do i stand in terms of chances at top 10 mim programmes.

Hey Aman,

Everything looks strong and diverse enough to get into top colleges!

especially your law background would be something colleges would love.

The gap can certainly pose some issue but I think the colleges will be considerate if you provide the right reasoning. Almost all the colleges allow you to have optional essays. Please use those wisely.

Top 10 mim programs seem like a decent possibility to me only and only if your Essays showcase the Impact and you convince them of your story!

GMAT score also seems strong enough. Try to convey your goals clearly and show what you different you bring to a management cohort.

I really wish you all the best.

Hey everyone, I'm Uday das from India .
I am applying for the ESCP Master in Management (MIM) program for 2025. Due to no available test centers in my state, I’ll need to apply for the third round, as the next GRE test is on January 17—too late for the second round. I’ve heard that the third round focuses on diversification, and I consider myself an average student. Here’s a bit about me:

Personal Information:
Nationality: Indian
Age: 23
Gender: Male
Academic Background:

Undergraduate: Bachelor’s in computer applications (Graduated in 2024) with a CGPA of 7.4.
High School: Humanities background with a score of 60%.

Professional Experience:
Completed a tech-related internship (required for my semester) in the government sector.

GRE:
Score: 280 (underprepared at the time).
Retake scheduled in 10 weeks, aiming for a score of 310+.

Extracurricular Achievements:
Tennis: Played at a national level, represented my state twice, ranked in the top 10 in my state, and led my college team to a trophy victory.
College Clubs and Events: former member of various clubs, managed multiple events, and participated in NGO and social events organized by my college.
Current Work:

Assisting my father in managing our family’s small business.
I’m very interested in the MIM program at ESCP
and would appreciate any advice or tips to strengthen my application.

Hello udii07,

At the moment, what you can really do is to put forth a compelling application - well-written essays and a good GRE score; so, just focus on scoring as high as you can (310 would still be a bit on the lower side considering the round you are applying in) and working on essays that adequately present your strengths along with a logically syncing set of goals.

Good luck!

As someone who has helped people get into colleges like HEC, ESSEC, ESCP, LBS, Duke for their MiM programs, here is what I feel what I feel you should aim for especially if you will be pushing for Round 3s is nothing below 315. While EU programs are not so GPA centric. Ask yourself why would they take you in if other people are applying with a 320+ GRE.

What different do you bring to the table? Something you have to address through your Essays!

Focus on these 2 and I thing you are good to go for ESCP. Although I would surely suggest targeting ESSEC, EDHEC too!

Hey Gianlucaaa11 ,

Your profile looks good for top MIM programs, with notable highlights such as a Bachelor’s degree from Bocconi University, a competitive GMAT score of 730, and unique work experience in operations at a Serie A football club. While your GPA of 3.1/4 is slightly low for elite programs, your Bocconi’s grading and your GMAT performance help mitigate this concern. Your extracurriculars, including organizing an international job fair and founding a sports management association, showcase leadership and a clear interest in sports management, adding depth to your profile. Additionally, your multilingual abilities and targeted career aspirations in France, Switzerland, or Dubai align well with the global focus of MIM programs. To enhance your application, address the gap year proactively, emphasizing the value of your work experience, and consider improving French proficiency to boost employability in your preferred markets. You can be a competitive candidate for programs like HEC Paris, ESSEC, IE, and St. Gallen, provided your application materials effectively connect your achievements with your career goals. What's going to matter most in your application is how you connect the experiential dots and build a great story to stand out from other applicants in the pool. Good luck!

If you’d like, we are happy to discuss your profile in depth and assess your chances to top B-schools and strengthen your application with impactful stories.

Dear Gianlucaaa11,

Your profile is strong in many respects, but there are areas for improvement and opportunities to showcase your unique aspects. Here's a detailed review:
Strengths:
  1. Strong GMAT Score: A 730 is well above average for most MIM programs and will strengthen your application.
  2. Sports Industry Experience: Experience in a Serie A football club and a focus on sports management are unique differentiators.
  3. Leadership and Initiative: Founding a sports management association and organizing an international job fair are clear demonstrations of leadership and initiative.
  4. International Aspirations and Multilingual Abilities: Fluency in English and Italian, coupled with conversational French, aligns with your career goals of working in France, Switzerland, or Dubai.
  5. Bocconi Background: Having a degree from Bocconi gives you an edge, particularly for European MIM programs, as it is a highly regarded institution.

Areas for Improvement:
  1. Academic GPA: While Bocconi is a strong school, your GPA (3.1/4 equivalent) is slightly below the competitive average for top MIM programs. This could be a concern for academic rigor-focused schools.
  2. Lack of Exchange Program: While not a dealbreaker, the absence of international academic experience could be perceived as a gap, especially since many MIM programs emphasize global exposure.
  3. Limited Full-Time Experience: MIM programs are typically designed for early-career professionals, but most applicants have slightly more varied or intensive internships or full-time roles.
What you should be doing to increase your chances to get into top MIM programs?
  1. Leverage GMAT and Football Club Experience:
    • Highlight how working with a Serie A club gave you insights into sports operations, teamwork, and high-stakes decision-making.
    • Link this experience to your future goals and how the MIM program will bridge your skills gap.
  2. Enhance the GPA Narrative:
    • Use your essays to explain any factors behind your GPA and showcase how extracurriculars, internships, and GMAT offset it.
    • Highlight specific courses or achievements that align with your desired program (e.g., excelling in a particular subject like operations or management).
  3. Expand on Career Goals:
    • Make your career goals specific and actionable. For example, explain the types of roles (sports consultancy, management, marketing, etc.) and companies (e.g., FIFA, UEFA, major sports clubs) you aim to target.
  4. Highlight Leadership and Impact:
    • Show measurable results from your extracurriculars. For instance, quantify the impact of the job fair or the association (number of participants, partnerships, outcomes).
  5. Address the Gap Year Strategically:
    • Frame your gap year as a strategic decision to gain hands-on experience in operations within a highly competitive sports industry. Discuss what you learned and how it prepared you for the MIM.

Please feel free to reach out if you specific assistance to crack MIM programs of HEC, LBS, IESE, IE etc.

Your GRE score is undoubtedly a strong point, so great job there! However, for business schools, especially MiM programs, it’s not enough to rely on just a good GRE score. These schools prioritize experiences, stories, and impact over numbers alone.

Since this isn’t a technical program, they’ll want to see leadership, teamwork, and real-world application. Without tangible experiences or a compelling narrative, it’ll be challenging to make a strong case. HEC tends to favor candidates from top-tier institutions like IITs or Delhi University, so this might be difficult to crack given your GPA and college background. Similar case with LBS.

Focus on creating a narrative around your leadership in college clubs and NGO work. Additionally, consider enhancing your profile by gaining short-term, relevant experience, such as internships or impactful projects. In the meantime, aim for schools like ESSEC, ESTP, EDHEC, and TUM, where your GRE score and engineering background will still hold weight. These schools might offer a more attainable path while still providing excellent opportunities for your career goals.

There is a lot of brainstorming needed if you want to get into these colleges.

I wish you all the best! Let me know if you need our help.

Hi,

Would love some feedback on my profile as I look to apply for MiM programs:

Background: Graduated from BITS Pilani (Tier-1 college)
Major - Mechanical Engg; Minor degree in Finance
Overall GPA: 7.95/10 (Average GPA of 9/10 in Finance subjects)

GMAT : 625 GFE (Q85, V79, DI78)

Work Ex: 1.3 year experience as an Analyst at a globally recognised treasury solution provider.
Internship: 6 months at an investment bank in a risk intern role

Extra-curriculars:
  • President of Art society of college for a year
  • Vice-president at the Art society the previous year
  • Core-member - Cultural committee in college (organised cultural festivals)
  • Member: Finance society
Volunteering:
  • volunteering at a child rights organisation - taught kids in government schools, conducted awareness programs
Recommendations:
  • Have one each from CTO and Director of company

Schools I want to apply to: INSEAD, HEC, LBS, ESSEC, Aalto. (Might also apply to Duke, Bocconi)
Am working on my essays and am confident of crafting a decent story.

Would love to get an insight on my chances on the profile and chances at above universities!

Thank you!

Your current profile appears quite solid—strong academics and meaningful exposure. However, it’s not entirely clear how your prior experiences connect to your post-MiM. career goals. Top-tier programs will expect a clear line of sight between your past accomplishments, the MiM. program, and your future aspirations. This coherence is essential.
You’ve demonstrated valuable exposure working closely with a CEO, and since your internship lasted for six months—a substantial period—you should emphasize the measurable impact you had. Highlighting specific contributions and outcomes will strengthen your candidacy.
Your entrepreneurial venture is another critical element. Admissions committees want to understand why you launched it, what set it apart, and why it mattered to you. This narrative should illustrate your motivations, leadership qualities, and the depth of your commitment.
Regarding your GMAT score, it’s somewhat low for the programs you’ve targeted—especially LBS, HEC, and Kellogg, where the average scores are typically higher. Your current score might be acceptable for LSE, but you may need to improve it for the others. Alternatively, consider adding ESSEC and ESCP to your list, as these schools may be more approachable with a 605. However, even with these options, your story must be exceptionally strong to differentiate yourself from similarly qualified candidates who present more competitive scores.
In essence, you must ensure that the admissions committee clearly understands why you made the choices you did, how those choices led you to pursue an MiM., and how you envision leveraging your degree moving forward. If you find yourself unsure or need assistance refining your positioning, feel free to reach out.
