Could some one please explain why D is correct ? Doesn’t the As well at the end of the statement make it an abrupt end.

Official Explanation

The phrase “but also” implies a contrast between two ideas, but no such contrast is supported by the original. (D), by using the simple conjunction “and,” makes it clear that the two ideas are parallel. The other choices include a superfluous “also.”

The correct answer is (D).

Hope it helps

Isn't the correct usage - both of A and B? I was down to options D and E but chose E because of the misplaced also. Can someone please explain?

In option E : their peer pressure as well is wrong as it is not logical and use of their is wrong from parallelism point
