Hi,

I am a 20 year old Indian - Male - Finance Assistant - Certified Management Accountant (CMA USA)
I have a work experience of 2 years in the field of finance where I have shown a lot of growth and I was the youngest employee at my company at 18, I was one of the youngest if not the youngest Qualified CMA at just the age of 18, and by now you might have noticed that I like to do things really early on in life
I completed my bachelors last year and gave a GMAT attempt on 24th of August and I scored 615 Q82 V81 DI79, I was pretty happy with my score as it was 80th percentile until last week when the percentile changed happened and my score is now in the 78th percentile and given I only prepared for 1.5 month and my first practice test score was 515 I would say that is a pretty good imrpovement, however I am not in the position to be able to afford another retake so I will stick to the score that I got atleast for this year,

I wanted to know if it would be wise to apply in Jan 2025 for an MBA, and what are the odds that I get accepted? If yes then what universities should I target?

Please be brutal and honest with your answer.

Thanks,
Waleed
AbaidWaleedKhan - Interesting profile. Considering your work-ex is on the lower side, and there's room to improve on the GMAT score, it'd be ideal to look at MBA programs after gaining more work-experience.

Alternatively, you could look at MiM or deferred MBA programs, if you're keen on applying this year.

FYI, average GMAT (Classic) scores of top MBA programs are here, average age/ work-ex at top MBA programs are here, and details of top deferred MBA programs are here.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Arvind

Hello AbaidWaleedKhan

Firstly, congratulations on being the youngest qualified CMA. But that does not mean you are fully eligible to get admitted. You can surely apply in 2025 as you will complete 3 years of full-time work experience; the majority of US programs have 2 years as minimum work experience.
Considering the tier-1 program program in the US your GMAT score is below the class average which indicates that you need to accelerate your application; Maybe this should help you to retake your GMAT or not.
It's great to have a lot of work accomplishments in a short time. Be sure to talk about what you accomplished in each one. It's important to mention any achievements you're proud of, even if they happened early in your career.

Please tell us more about your profile like your short-term goals, long-term goals, your extracurricular activities, if any participation in NGOs so that we can guide you more on the right MBA program to target with your profile.
