Loving the new UI – it’s sleek, intuitive, and a refreshing welcome for all of us! But as someone who regularly grinds multiple questions and tracks timing for each, I have a small suggestion: Could the entire rectangular timer box be made clickable to start/pause the timer?

Right now, the cursor switches to a clickable pointer when hovering over the box, but you actually need to click on the play/pause icon inside box to start/pause the timer. Making the whole area responsive would be a great quality-of-life improvement for those speeding through questions.

Glad you like the new UI! Your feedback aligns perfectly with what we aimed to achieve.

Regarding your suggestion to make the entire Start Timer block clickable, that’s a great idea and would enhance the user experience. We’ve added it to our list. Thank you for the thoughtful input!

Hi everyone, I am excited to share that the new UI/design for the topic pages has been released.
Thank you Bunuel for your hard work on this initiative!

I hope it works well for everyone but I know there are always small things that we can make better or maybe big ones too!
If you run into any issues, bugs, or you have questions, PLEASE - LET US KNOW! We would love to fix them!

To highlight a few of the new and hopefully cool features:

  1. You can now close the right hand bar. Just click X. This setting will be saved for your session. When you come back the bar will be back but you can easily close it if gets in your way.
    Attachment:
    close-x.png
  2. Simplification of the UI experience (we have removed a lot of the rarely used buttons/features
  3. Left "Hamburger" bar is now visible on all pages for easy navigation
  4. Improved Timer in the question sub-forums - example
  5. Profiles are much more compact now - they are no longer using up the space on the left, allowing more space for the topic and text, esp. valuable in the RC and DI questions. You can mouse over
  6. More...

During RC time Scrolling issues-- Read paragraph then right side scroll for question if u want visit RC for evidence then i have to scroll left for find evidence---lot of time wasting and

I believe this issue isn’t specific to the new or old UI but rather to the nature of RC questions, which often include long passages and multiple questions tied to the same text. This setup can naturally require some scrolling back and forth. Or did you mean something else, and I misunderstood your point?

I've found an issue for me personally. Earlier I used to filter using "Unattempted Only". If I use new "Show answer" then this filter is not helpful.
Is there any way I could avoid the questions where I used "Show answer" ?
Otherwise, I have to now attempt the question knowing the answer which will skew the stats OR always use the timer(for Hard questions especially 805+ I dont like to use the timer)

Unattempted questions refer to those not attempted using the timer. The time spent on a question is a key component of the Error Log, not just whether the answer is correct or incorrect. What do you mean by "I have to now attempt the question knowing the answer"? Could you elaborate on the issue further?

"Unattempted questions refer to those not attempted using the timer."

I dont think this was true earlier. May be an unintended coincidence. We could filter out untimed attempted questions too using "Unattempted only".

I often stay with an 805+ question for around 30 minutes to see it from all angles. So I try to avoid participating in timer stats not to skew it.
Now I'm forced to use the timer.

Either at the start itself and give an answer when Im not comfortable or at the end after finding the answer(just to make filter function work)

May be Im not using gmat club as you guys intended. I will think about it further. You can make suggestions for me too.

Thanks.

Still not entirely clear what you mean. May I ask, what are you trying to achieve when opening a question? Do you want to add it to the error log to mark it as attempted? If so, just start the timer and click an answer. Previously, you were doing the same by clicking A, B, C, D, or E. Now, the only difference is you need to click one more time to start the timer.

The issue with the "Add Mistake" button has been fixed. Thank you to everyone who reported this! Your feedback is invaluable in improving the UI.

We understand that adjusting to something new can be challenging, especially when it’s not entirely bug-free. Rest assured, we are actively working to address all your reports.

Fixed/Improved Issues:

1. Made the "Add Mistake" button accessible immediately after using the timer.

2. Changed the timer background color to make it more prominent.
3. Adjusted the "Show Answer" button to change color on hover, making it more noticeable.
4. Updated the quote block by making the text grey to make it less intrusive on the page.
5. Fixed a few smaller issues (e.g., removed the "Request Expert Reply" button from topics where it didn’t belong).

More updates coming soon.

Thank you!
6. Moved the Quote box to the right and fixed alignment to improve readability.
7. Made the entire "Start the Timer" block clickable and added mouse-over text for better user experience.
8. Updated the post’s background to enhance contrast and improve text comprehension.

More updates coming soon.

Thank you!

Hi Bunuel bb

So have used the new interface for today and here are some of my observations!

1. The GMAT Club Timer url on the left section redirects to a static info page. Based on previous practice, someone navigates their mouse to the left-most timer section to start the timer (Play button). Now, if one continues the same practice, it'll lead to the GMAT Timer hyperlink. I am sorry as I am not aware of the prerogative of that hyperlink but if we can shift that somewhere else and keep the Play to the left-most section, that would be great (imho)!

2. Show History and Add Mistake buttons are closely packed. If we can give them some breathing space that would help make mouse navigation simpler!

3. When we jot down Mistakes to Add Mistake, the recorded section becomes My Mistake - an indicator that enables someone to review their previously made mistake while stumbling upon that section. It becomes difficult to continuously differentiate Add Mistake and My Mistake. If we can maybe colour code My Mistake (for eg. YELLOW) that would help instantly identify your recorded mistakes.

Thank you for the suggestions!

1. I agree with you on the first point. I was thinking of removing the GMAT Timer info block altogether and instead adding an "i" (info) button in the top-right corner of the timer block for anyone needing clarification. Let me discuss this with the team and see what others think.

2. Good point. Space is tight there. If we address the first point, we might be able to create more room between the "Show History" and "Add Mistake" buttons to improve navigation.

3. Excellent idea! I’ll add this to the task list. Color-coding (?) the "My Mistake" button would help users instantly recognize when they’ve already added a note or mistake.

I’m a bit surprised by the results of the poll. I really like the new desktop site.
