I need help in Verbal, esp RC the most.
I cannot answer the question about Egmat then mentoring though I know people have mentioned it a few times and I think it’s a great idea, but I wanted to share a couple of thoughts about reading comprehension.
There are several components involved and some of them are fast and others are slow, but they’re not hard so to speak.
1. You need to practice digesting reading materials so you need to have reading comprehension skills, that means reading close to 1000 pages not a silly articles but also not of scientific crazy wacky stories that make it go to sleep. I recommend reading classical fiction which is interesting but challenging.
2. Second component is you need to allow yourself enough time to read through the text and that means you need to save time on critical reasoning during the verbal section, so your C.R. needs to be fast
3. Final step is follow the reading comprehension strategy that Manhattan or Egmat have. Follow with exactly as prescribed and within 20 hours of starting to follow the strategy, assuming the other two pieces are in place, you’re reading comprehension accuracy will go from 50% to 75 or 80%
