Hello All,
I am a non-traditional candidate applying to business school. I have 8 years of experience working as a Corporate Paralegal at an international law firm and 2 real estate private equity firms. While working at these 2 places, I was able to lead a team of lawyers in doing pro Bono work in low income communities. In addition, I was able to lead a team of executives at the PE firms through the due diligence process when the firm made Acquisitions. At the law firm I was heavily involved on the legal side of M&A.
I sat on an advisory council at a local hospital where I advocated for better medical services in low income neighborhoods and I managed 2 non-profits where I supervised interns from Americorp programs.
My goal is to go into Real Estate IB and hope to one day create a firm that specialize in acquiring residents properties and making them affordable for seniors.
My GPA is a 3.6 and my GRE Score is a 330. Do I have a shot at a M7 school?
Posted from my mobile device bgeig2Quite an interesting profile, I would say. At this point, you should apply and see whether you will make it to the M7 interviews or not. Better odds for making it than not. A couple of comments:
Transition from Corporate Paralegal role into Real Estate Investment Banking can be seen as a non-traditional path. Connect how your paralegal experience (in deal due diligence, financial modeling, structuring transactions, and managing the investment portfolio in PE) will be a great fit for financial advisory and capital-raising services to clients involved in real estate transactions. Also elaborate on the motivation (Senior citizen housing)
Show that a 2-year MBA is indeed needed and is not just an unfounded desire. Also, because you are slightly older/more experienced for a typical 2-year MBA.
Best wishes
