Hi everyone,

I couldn't find any satisfactory answer to this question so posting again.

Is it necessary to get Official Transcripts for Bachelor of Tech ( B.Tech) from U.P. Tech University India for the admission in any college. I passed in 2007.

If Yes then Whats the process. Any body sharing their experience would be a great eye opener.

Thanks in advance.
Ankit

In your application you will eventually be asked for transcripts that are official, so you will need to get those from your college (although you can often do your application with unofficial transcripts as well)

Thanks for the reply Jon. There a few points I should have cleared before asking my question.
1. In India, many colleges are afflited to U.P. Tech University, My college was one of them.
2. My college issued Mark-Sheets for each semester ( So in total 8) Signed and stamped from university.

Question: 1. Will these marksheets suffice as official transcripts?
Question 2: If not then do I get these from College Or University.

Question 3: for People facing or faced my situation : How much time/money/visits does it require to U.P. Tech University ( If from there) to get these transcripts.

Thanks in advance
Ankit

Ankit,
I'm afraid I can't really answer that specifically, because it depends on the policy of the school. I can say that usually your stamped sheets will NOT be good enough, and schools will require a signed, sealed copy of transcripts (but like I wrote, some schools only upon admission). But really, you need to ask the school at which you are applying to make sure. As for how long it takes, maybe it would be best to dig up some emails of ex-classmates and ask them? :)

Best,
JF

You generally will need an official signed and sealed transcript for schools you apply to. I would contact the school directly and figure out what official documentation they can provide. Business schools are used to working with Indian colleges so they should be familiar with any potential issues here
