one of the X's that plural
have is correct C&E can be eliminated
A is out because of being
and in option B are usage is incorrect for one which is singular
option D is correct

I'm confused with this. How can we know "that" refers to "artefacts" (as whole) and not to "(only) one of the artefacts" ?

Since it mentions 'one of the' it refers to one artefact. Hence has. So option E is correct
