Far east option is somewhere in china ( not beijing or shanghai) but somewhere else I cannot recall the name. I will try to combine oxford and cambridge interview in one trip .

I am too waiting for JBS interview calls. Based out of india. Can somene tell me
- When they call for interview, do we have to spend all the costs (visa, travel, stay) or do they reimnurse some part? For me, its just too big a cost to spend for an application. Actual program is different ballgame.
- How often people really travel to UK from other continents? I am keen on telephonic or at india. However, I am not sure if this will severaly impact my chances.
- Any advice on what to mention when I am requesting adcom for telephonic interview?
- Which visa people use to travel to UK? How much is lead time for UK visa from india? If this is long enough, I will probably use this reason.

Hi Nishchals,

I'll try to answer some of your questions.

Unfortunately, they don't reimburse your expenses. You have to pay for everything yourself - for visa, travel, stay etc.

On their interview event, I met people from China, India, Europe, both Americas etc. The majority agree that if you visit the school for an interview, you have a very good chance of admission. In reality, I'd say it depends on how many people they invited. Still, their post-interview acceptance rate is over 70%.

I think that you'll need a very good excuse for not visiting campus if invited for interview. I know that some people (though not from India) indeed used this argument that it's not possible to get visa in short notice. And I also know that it's possible to get an admit after phone interview.

To Buffdaddy: One of R1 interview waitlisters on Pagalguy reported an invite - which means they do review the wait list after all. But I guess you still haven't heard from them, right? I haven't heard either... decided to mail Jennifer, but still no reply.

Hi, Buffdaddy. The news is not that bad: at least they gave you new date to wait - and it's in the reasonably near future. Though I'd say you'll be lucky to hear before 9 April: I think I got their style.

I still got nothing. 10 more minutes to wait till the end of the workday there. I don't know what else to do if I still don't hear from them. I already wrote them yesterday.

I talked to cambridge about not be able to make it to UK in feb/march and they offered me an interview in Singapore on 10 April. Oxford anyway has option for telephonic interview. So I dont need to travel to UK for the interviews anymore. That savem me few bucks and fewl leaves leaves :-D

thnks,

Congrats Devil for you interview invite, even if you decided not to go there :) I think I understand why you chose Said over Judge.

I've just heard from JBS today - they are planning to review my app after R2 interviews. Well, it makes perfect sense according to the logic of the process. Unfortunately, I most probably won't be able to wait till that date. I'll ask them if it's possible to consider my app earlier, and, depending of what I'll hear, will make a decision. I just don't want to withdraw until they re-review my file.

Hi Devil,
I'm afraid I haven't formulated my opinion clearly enough, and I'm sorry for that. I meant that I understand why somebody in principle might have made this choice. I PM-ed you more details.

In fact, I'm curious to know your own reason :)

Question for those of you who have visited -

I am planning on visiting Oxford for my interview in March. Are there any opportunities to attend class, tour etc. when I visit? Maybe i am being completely useless today but other than during an open day, i am not seeing much about visits on the website. Can anyone shed light on this?

You definitely should be able to tour the campus -- I visited Oxford during a drop-in session and the tour is not more than 20-30 minutes.

I visited during exams, so I was not able to visit a class in session. However, if you're not arriving during an open day, I would check with your admissions coordinator when you set up your visit appointment to see if one can be arranged. I haven't done this at Oxford, but it's been arranged at other schools, so I imagine it would be the same process.

thanks prashok. She said I couldn't sit in on a class but she could take me on a short tour. so lets see.

Any advice from those who have been to oxford on things I should definitely check out while I am there. I am going to be visiting for my interview and don't really fancy returning to london immediately after. May as well walk around town and get a bit of a feel for the place.

I didn't have too much time in Oxford (had a flight to Paris for INSEAD right after), but the center of town is not far -- around a 7 to 10-minute walk.

I walked around and visited the main sights like Christ Church, High Street, as well as my college choices themselves. There is a famous pub called Eagle and Child that I had heard about, but didn't go -- not sure how touristy/crowded it is, though.

Hi all,

As JBS application deadline was today, I'd like to ask if there is somebody who applied for R3. Also, if somebody's preparing for Oxford R3 - please, let us know as well.

So far, it seems that the majority of gmatclubbers have applied to Oxbridge schools in early rounds - but maybe we have some newcomers here?

I have not submitted for R3. Eventually I will submit for R4, but I have not yet decided.
