Calling all HEC Paris MBA applicants: Sept 2018 intake - Class of 2019

Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum - but just received my admit yesterday!!

If I can help in any way with providing some insight into the application process, let me know. The interviews were both conducted via Skype by HEC alumni from the 2011 batch based in Tokyo and Singapore. They were pretty straightforward and focused on getting to know me as a person.

I'm an indian applicant looking to apply. I'm confused if I should apply for the September intake or the January 2019 intake. Any inputs? Suggestions?

From what I know, there isn't any difference between both the programmes. But I've heard feedback from alums saying the September intake is better from an admissionprocess and placement perspective.

Been a week since deadline day.

Did anyone hear back anything? Any idea when can we expect a response?

None from my end. I guess it's safe to expect around December 1, at the latest, for them to inform people of pre-selection.

The email looks generated but the email address is from the one you get after you submit your application and they confirm its complete.

I'm from the Africa region.

Anybody from India received anything yet?

I submitted my application on Nov 15th but one of my recommenders was traveling overseas and wasn't able to complete his recommendation in time. He did it yesterday and I got an email today that they are going to consider my application for Nov 15th pool despite the delayed recommendation and official GMAT score. They seem to be very accommodating.

I just received pre-selection outcome / interview confirmation. I'm from the Philippines.

Sure, I can share my experience. My interviews were on 10 Nov and 13 Nov respectively, and I received my admit on 17 Nov so their turnaround time is very quick.

First interview:
This was with a 2011 alum based in Japan with a finance background, conducted over https://gmatclub.com/chat call (not Skype which meant I didn't get to see her face at all). She requested that I do my 10 min presentation first and she had a number of questions about it (why I chose the topic, how successful my project was etc). Then she introduced herself and asked me the following questions.
- Why HEC
- Why MBA?
- Why Paris/Europe and not the USA?
- What are your hobbies
- What do you do in your job
- Why technology (my post-MBA career goal)
- Can you tell me about a time you led a team?

Overall, very pleasant (and very structured). I felt like I was speaking too fast trying to cram all my info into the interview

Second interview:
This was also with a 2011 alum in Singapore with a finance background, conducted over Skype. This was very casual, he didn't even want me to do my 10 min presentation even though I asked about it. He just wanted to "get to know me as a person" and asked the following questions:
- What are your hobbies
- How would your friends describe you? What do you talk about with your friends?
- If accepted at HEC what social activities would you take part in? Why?
- What is your experience working with the French like? (asked this because I work for a French company).
- What are your expectations living and working in France?
- What stands out about HEC vs other European schools?

He talked a bit about his experience and then asked me about some tips for social media (as it's part of my job). Overall, a very quick interview and not hard at all.

I think it really depends on who you get for the interviews as some alums are very relaxed, and others not so much. Definitely less pressure than being interviewed by AdCom though!
