Hi guys,
Hope you're having a great day.
I'm a prospective Indian applicant to the J-term MBA at Columbia.
I am a product manager, an ed-tech entrepreneur and tech enthusiast with 5+ years in the tech industry. My goal after MBA is to remain in product management but move into one of the tech biggies (Amazon/Google/Apple/Facebook/Microsoft).
I had a few questions with regards to the J-term. Would be great if you could clarify some of my doubts. I've reached out to alums but would also like to understand what the members here know about the J-term.
1. Since I'm not a industry switcher do you think a J term makes sense for me? (In the long term I would like to start my own company or move into a VC role)
2. What percentage of your international J-term batchmates were able to successfully find jobs and stay in the US? Did a lot of internationals/Indian return to their own country?
3. How good is the Columbia MBA for roles in tech companies? I know Amazon, Microsoft, Google and Apple recruited for MBA's, but were these for students from the J-term.
4. What is your opinion about the J-term? Do you believe you successfully achieved your goals through the program?
Sincerely,
Ishan Rana
