Emory is really one of the direct examples that trigger a legitimate question. Is it worth to pay that much to do an online MBA even you land the US? Everyone must weigh the pros against cons.

Wish all to be safe

I am pretty sure this is not the right forum but I don't want to create a new thread.

Can some expert share thoughts on MBA this year vs next year? A holistic approach keeping in mind : someone who already has a good score/someone who was thinking to take second attempt to apply for next, schools that are still decent/good options, implications of economy/job market..

If that makes sense!

Many of the schools are only sending out emails and are not posting official updates. Not sure why but I guess they have to email the group of admitted students anyway so why duplicate the work? Also I guess keeping things private in case they change further and they don’t have to update it in multiple places...

I second that. Also, a lot of schools are keeping it very open ended and giving very wide array of options. Some are giving option to continue trying to land in the US without ensuring in the first place when physical classes will start (it is uncertain at this moment for sure).

MSx program at Stanford is getting a lot of flak from students publicly.

The Start Date for the Duke Fuqua MBA program has changed.

Student Orientation: August 31, 2020
Start of the Classes: September 3, 2020.

Few other important things to note from the email they sent out:
Quote:
  • With the issues in the delays of visa processing, our goal is to offer an offer in which individuals can begin the program online and then join everyone in Durham as soon as they are able to.
  • In the event, public health restrictions prevent anyone from being on the campus, the goal would be to start the program fully online.

This update was communicated through an email.

COVID-19 Situation and its Impact on the Next Application Season

Hi all, one of our co-founders, Melody Jones, shared the following thoughts on the current environment and outlook for next year. Thought you may find helpful!

-Several factors are in play that will make this upcoming application cycle the most competitive in recent history. On the demand side, we expect to see an uptick in applications as the MBA is viewed as a safe place to ride out an economic downturn, which unfortunately, seems to be more and more inevitable. On the supply side, you have up to 20% (current estimates based on P&Q's survey) of the 2020 incoming class that is expected to defer to 2021 matriculation that will reduce the number of spots available in the top programs' classes. So what that means for applicants is that 1) differentiation matters more than ever and 2) they should cast a wide net in terms of school selection. While you still want to aim high, be realistic about how competitive it is and hedge your bets.

-I had been hesitant to give this advice, but I'm now more confident than ever: if you can pull together a strong application in the next ~2 months, I would recommend applying in the extended round 3/4 of this year. That said, you need to do your homework and understand what the schools are doing about online learning. The consensus is that the current solution of throwing the professor up on Zoom isn't working (it was a band aid). Schools need to redesign their curriculum for online learning in order to provide a robust experience that is more competitive with the in-person one. Since it's looking like the fall semester very well may take place online, applicants need to be prepared for that and OK with that but also understand what that experience will look like at the different schools so they're not surprised.

Stay safe everyone.

Washington Olin has postponed the starting date by 2 months!!! The date of the program is shifted from Jun 23 to Aug 24.

The program usually starts with its global 3 continent immersion program, which they will now shift to Spring 2021.

London Business School is accepting applications to its programmes without a GMAT/GRE score if you are unable to take a test in your location.
  • If you already have a GMAT/GRE score you should submit it with your application. If you had planned to retake the test, let the LBS admissions know.
  • If you don't have a GMAT/GRE score, apparently they will be evaluating your application on your academic performance, resume, and employment experience.
  • Check the COVID-19 page on LBS website for more updates. https://www.london.edu/about/contact/coronavirus-faqs
