Good evening everyone!
Would anyone please be so kind and evaluate my profile below?
Education:- Swedish Male, with Italian heritage
- Graduated BBA Hotel management with a specialization in Finance from a rather "unknown" hotel school in Switzerland, GPA isn't spectacular at 3.33/4.0 (83,33/100). I had an strange roller coaster trend where my first year was exceptional, my second year was still good, third year took a dip in terms of grades, then excellent last year. Overall I graduated with distinction and honors.
- GMAT - 700 (Q 47 V 39, AWA 5, IR 5)
- 6 month internship in Beijing, China doing F&B concept development
- 12 month internship in London doing various hotel positions including a shared services project that I was in charge of between two hotels
Extras:- Co-founder and treasurer of the school's Toastmasters organization.
- Part of the school's basketball team for all 4 years (co-captain for the final year).
- Part of a team of 5 that won the 2014 Young Hotelier Summit
- Speak 3 languages (Swedish, English, French) fluently, and am a beginner(A1/N5) in 2 more (Italian, Japanese)
Work experience:- 6 month internship in Beijing, China doing F&B concept development
- 12 month internship in London doing various hotel positions including a shared services project that I was in charge of between two hotels
- 1 year and 3 months Graduate Program specialized in accounting for a top 5 major hotel company (selected as 1 out of 15 candidates form a pool of 1600 applications). Was placed in Paris, France and subsequently learned french. I did various projects for the regional and area directors of the company as well as a major project related to cost efficiency for the hotel. I had to quit prematurely due to my father falling ill.
Why Msc in Management:I went into the hotel industry in hopes of finding a career that offered plenty of opportunities to work on a variety of challenging projects in exciting locations around the world. However, I found that the challenges offered were far from the level I expected. As such, I'd like to transition into management consulting which would give me the opportunity to work on a variety of projects from different industries, and I believe that a Msc in management would offer me the means to make that transition in my career.
Schools:I've looked at Esade, Bocconi, LSE, HEC, HKUST among others. I find it important for the school to be a a part of the CEMS alliance as I would like to apply to the CEMS program as well.
What are my chances of getting into a well established MiM program with a background from a less recognized hotel school (accredited by NEASC) and how do I optimize my chances? I am looking to apply for the 2016-2017 intake.
Thanks a ton in advance,
Alseca
