Hello! I have a bit of an unorthodox profile, so would love an expert's perspective on my Sloan chances.

Background and nationality: Filipino woman, multi-national experience in Philippines, Singapore and US
Educational Background:
- Undergrad: Behavioral Sciences from top 3 Philippine university; GPA: 3.6 (top 1% of graduating class)
- Masters: Industrial/Organizational Psychology from top 40 US university; GPA: 3.7
GMAT: 710 (46 Q/41 V)
Work experience and leadership:
- 4 years full time experience
- Currently Big 4 Consulting - Human Capital, focus on life sciences & healthcare industry
- Previous: health benefits consulting, organizational development (training/change management/org design), marketing & communications
Community involvement:
- Leadership role in Filipino poverty alleviation nonprofit in the Boston area
- Various student government roles in college; led training, policy reform, and scholarship programs
Post MBA goals: Long term, I want to prove that Strategic HR/People Management is a path to C-suite beyond CHRO. Short term, I'll be seeking a role in a strategic Talent Management/Org Development/People Analytics capacity.

Thanks!

Interesting profile, definitely with a lot of potential I think as you have several things going for you. However, I am missing some information here. Have you been promoted at all during the 4 years you have been working, for example? Any leadership roles at all? (Even for projects works!)

As for your leadership role in that nonprofit, I would want to hear more about that as well in order to figure out how impressive and relevant that is.
Therefore, I want to ask you to either elaborate on that here, or contact ARINGO directly with some more information about that (you can link to this post if you want to, while doing so, if you don’t want to describe your entire profile again). You can do that here: https://aringo.com/mba-process-registration/

Hi my name is Abhishek Srivastava from India

GMAT : 760 (Q-50 V-44)
Industry : Pharmaceutical Consulting
Work Experience : 72 (months)
Under grad : Jaypee Institute of Information Technology (B.Tech - Information technology)
Under grad GPA : 2.4

I have been working for a market research startup which provides data to pharmaceutical companies so that they could help devise strategies related to new brand production, market capture etc. My post is of a regional manager and I been heading a team of 10 people now. earlier the time size was 2. No promotions because hierarchical structure is very less ( only 2 managers above and then the ceo of company). Yet I have handled major projects for company like glenmark pilot, zydus optistox etc. Glenmark was ready to roll out pan india only when they saw success in uttar pradesh and I was the given the role of leading that projects bringing in revenue of Rs 1.5 crore.

Extracurricular : Film making group in hometown, assistant director for the same. directed movies majorly on women issue and farmer labour.

I want to specialise in operations consulting.

Post mba: I want to work in healthcare consulting.

Looks good, your work experience and GMAT score, as well as those extra curriculars, if described properly make up for your weakness with is your under grad of course, as I see it. So given that you are able to tell your story (which might include addressing that under grad GPA in some way for example) in a great way I would rate your chances as good.

Feel free to be in touch if you’d want to know how ARINGO can help you tell your story in the best possible way! https://aringo.com/mba-process-registration/

Looks very impressive, although I do think your goal needs some polishing and I don’t think all extracurriculars are really relevant. But that’s just two very minor comments that I can think of, as for the rest I would say you are in great shape so I would rate your chances as really good. And of course I would suggest you apply to other schools as well, not just one.

Good luck!

I feel like you're not only perf for Sloan, but literally any program!

Female STEMer with awesome numbers, really good work experience, and a cohesive narrative about what's next. You are what adcoms are looking for.

But alas, this is obvs a non-profesh opinion hahaha, I think if you have good execution on cover letter and video, then you'll be very likely to get an interview! Plus, if are you are a dual citizen or an URM - unclear from your post above - I think you'd be borderline irresistible.

Re: Sloan Profile Evaluation - Tools for B-School Profile Evaluation [#permalink]
Can you please review my profile and let me know the colleges where I have a realistic chance of getting an admission.

GMAT - 760 (Q50, V41, AWA-5, IR-8)
B.Tech. in computer science and engineering (68.78 on a scale of 100)
7 years of experience as an SAP Sales and Distribution consultant
- Worked in a global support project in Wipro (Sep 2010 - Sep 2013)
- Worked in multiple support projects and Watson Implementation project in IBM (Oct 2013 - Apr 2016).
- Have been working in Tata Steel since May 2016. Biggest projects worked on are GST Implementation and HANA Implementation at Tata Steel. Also worked on multiple small projects at Tata Steel.

Extra Curricular
- Finished the draft of my first book and it is in final review phase. I hope to get it published in a few weeks but for that to happen, I need to again concentrate on my writing. Unfortunately, I have grown very anxious after submitting my application. I really can't concentrate on anything.
- I am also working on two other fiction stories.
- I have worked as a social activist as a member of a pan India NGO. I have organized small scale community services like health and eye check up camps for the impoverished areas in and around Kolkata. I have interacted with local businessmen and organizations to raise funds for our community services. We bear the cost of cataract operations for all the people identified with cataract in our eye check up camps. We do some other affordable community services as well.
- I have worked as a political activist as a ground worker for the BJP for 2+ years. I have managed political campaigns, organized rallies and protests and run social media campaigns as a political activist.
- Twice, I tried to start my own eCommerce business. My first attempt never kicked off. On the second attempt I got bankrupt and in debt.

Post MBA - Want a job for financial security. Thereafter, want to pursue my ideas and start a new business.

I have currently applied to Wharton, INSEAD, SLOAN and Stanford. All first round applications. I am not sure whether to apply to more schools or not. Any suggestions are welcome.

Hi hugco94!

I think overall your profile looks great for Sloan. Your experience in different European countries will definitely be a plus. Your GMAT is excellent too. Bocconi is well known, and the experience studying in the US is great too, of course your overall GPA will be on the lower end but I don't think it's so low that it will be a huge concern. The fact that you made the switch from IB to PE already is great. I particularly love your extracurricular activities and I'm sure those will lead to some great examples of perseverance and leadership. In your Sloan cover letter, I would focus on a few past examples of your impact and leadership on the job, and explaining why Sloan is a top choice for you. I don't think you need to explain much, if anything, about your post-MBA goals since you're not changing fields. Use the video intro to show a more personal side and talk about your extracurriculars.

Best of luck! I'm also a Booth alum so feel free to PM me if you have any questions re. Booth!

Hi all, was hoping to get some feedback on my profile. Any input is appreciated!

GMAT: 750 (Q49, V42, 8 IR, 6 AWA)
GPA: 3.5/4 in Materials Science & Engineering at a Southern Ivy (Rice/Vanderbilt/Duke), awarded MSCI department's award for leadership as a senior.
Passed levels CFA levels 1 and 2

Extracurriculars during undergrad:
- Organizer of largest on-campus event, responsible for coordinating a week's worth of activities for a group of 300+ students. Worked with local businesses to sponsor the event, had 5-figure budget to work with, led team of 5 organizers
- Founder and president of club sports team
- Orientation advisor junior and senior years (highly competitive, ~10% of applicants are chosen to advise)
- Worked ~20 hours per week in nanotech research lab for 2.5 years on campus

Extracurriculars after graduation:
- Mentor for an inner-city youth baseball program
- Alumni admissions interviewer for alma mater
- Organizer of alumni affairs for the largest on-campus event mentioned above
- Play in amateur baseball league
- Occasionally foster for animal shelter (work hours permitting)

Work experience at time of application: (most recent first):

-1.5 years at boutique RIA in Texas ($6B AUM). Not much history of sending people to B-school, though almost all of senior mangement/C-Suite has MBA from top-10 schools. Started as an analyst on fixed income desk, after 9 months was promoted to associate and given PM-like responsibility for management of a $300M strategy (though no official PM or junior PM title). Expect to have responsibility for another strategy by the time I apply, bringing total AUM I am responsible for to ~$400M. Still have large analytical role with other fixed income strategies, use engineering background for coding & data analysis.

- 6 months as financial advisor with F100 insurance firm. Started here because I wanted to transition into investment management, left because role was more focused on sales than making investment decisions. Concerned this is a very weak part of my application.

- 1.5 years as management consultant in energy department for bronze-tier consulting firm with tech focus (think Quorum, Infosys, etc). Had projects on O&G supermajor & international government client, led offshore teams of 5-10 people on each project.

- Internship with NASA in R&D group as an undergrad. Worked with materials engineers to develop a prototype which was approved for further testing by management.

MBA goal: want to get MBA from top finance program to gain a formal finance education. Currently have very strong analytical skills stemming from engineering background but lack understanding of what makes a successful business tick, which I believe is of utmost importance for investment management. CFA curriculum has filled some of this gap, but is mainly focused on valuation. Also believe I need to improve soft skills to one day lead a team of analysts.

Post MBA goal: Junior PM or similar type role at major asset management firm, preferably one with fixed income focus (PIMCO/DoubleLine/TCW). Long-term goal is to become Chief Investment Officer of an AM firm.
