A certain annual film festival has several committees that vote on what films will be shown at the festival. A live-action film must be approved by Committee 1, which must give unanimous approval by its 4 members. An animated film must be approved by Committee 2, whose 3 members must give unanimous approval. A feature-length movie must be approved by a majority of Committee 3, which has 5 members. A short movie must be approved by at least 1 member of Committee 4, which has 2 members. A documentary must be approved by at least 1 of Committee 5’s 3 members. Committee members may serve on more than one committee. A movie that fits into multiple categories must be considered by every applicable committee, and it will be shown only if each of those committees approves.
Be sure to select an answer first to save it in the Error Log before revealing the correct answer (OA)!

Every movie shown at the film festival this year was approved by at least 2 committees......YES. All the movies shown in the festival fall under atleast two categories, and to be shown at the festival, the movie has to get the approval of all the categories, in which it falls.
At least 7 committee members voted to show Movie C at the film festival this year......NO. Movie C falls under the Feature length & Live-action categories, and the committee approval votes for the respective categories are 3 & 4. So, Movie C got atleast 7 votes and maximum 9 votes.
Movie D received more votes than did Movie B to be shown at the film festival this year......YES.
Movie D : Falls under 3 categories - Short, Live Action, & Documentary. Minimum Votes needed to be featured = 1+4+1 (respectively) = 6
Movie B : Falls under 2 categories - Short & Animated. Minimum Votes needed to be featured = 1+3(respectively) = 4. Even if the movie gets Maximum votes the total will be 2+3=5, which is still lower than the minimum votes of Movie D.

Movies B and E each received a 5 in audience score, and the lowest score for each of those movies is less than 4; thus, the range of scores for each of these movies is greater than 1, and the movie with the greatest range must be one of these two. Since the range of scores for these two movies is calculated by subtracting their lowest score from their highest score, 5, the film with the lowest score has the greatest range. Movie E has that distinction with a 3.7 jury score, which means (E) is the correct answer.
TAKEAWAY: When a question seems to invite you to calculate a lot of values so you can compare them, look to strategically eliminate some options instead.
