Compound interest formula would not take more than 90 sec to solve this question

if you want it faster then the calculative portion can lead to some errors sometimes

1.2x 1.2 three times
Will give you 1.44
Calculate 44 percent
And then go to another 1.44
This may be simple comparatively
And if you are not okay with this please go to temple before appearing for the gmat. God might help

Yeah, I don’t think 1.2 to the 6th power is going to be very realistic on the test with a dry erase board and markers….

It’s an assumption
first Even I tried it by 7

I think the two answer choices you’ve got both are there in the options. Could you please work on it further

1-root2 is an option

I think the most reliable way of solving that question is just writing out a table and calculating 10 and 20% increases. That seems most reliable….

Esp if the answer is 22 years or smth like that.

In the gmat you want a combination of speed and reliability. It is ok to trade off speed for more accuracy and not having to redo math so it can be a personal decision for your one’s level.

PS. I also see the question was archived. Likely because it is not a gmat question.

Likely too many calculations - what is the source of this question?

bb what about verbal? accuracy in RCs drops with speed....what should be the ideal time to solve a 700 level rc with 80 percent accuracy?

I would say a hard RC will be hard to move with 15 mins of time. So the time for the hard question is almost irrelevant. But you will not know if the RC you got is which level. Or any question for that matter. What matters for verbal is pacing and giving the proper amount of time to each question.

I got a V42 and did not get any RC’s from hell…. Maybe things will change and strategies will change with Focus 3 question change but the best strategy for verbal is to give each question the time it deserves. This means only the time you have. Not more.

I used the MGMAT/Kaplan method for RC. Reading the passa, stopping to summarize and take some min notes but this is a quant chat 😇
